I left music playing overnight on the new Susvara and took a listen this afternoon. It’s like being given a warm and smooth hug of sound. Still sounds closed in compared to my well-used HE-1000SE, but i’ll keep the break-in going.
I'm sure you're aware of this, but regarding such technicalities as width/depth of soundstage, bass, warmth etc. etc. tube rolling also has a significant role to play in delivering desired results, so if a wide soundstage is a huge a priority, it might be worth your while finding out which 6922/7308/E88CC/E18CC/6DJ8 tubes are capable of producing it the way you would like to hear it.... Sometimes that is the quickest way to get what one wants out of the InPol Ear... I thought I should mention that, just in case...
True, but at the end of the day I would tend to assume given the fact you are physically further away from the drivers and the drivers are bigger would make the Soundstage and overall experience of the he1000se quite a bit different (or at least it's been in my experience).
best ,I cannot say but for me after going through tons of amps the 13r has hit the sweet spot and it is so easy to use given its form factor and remote...great amp...certainly a contender for best with the susvara

Interesting point, but I do not know what to make of the difference. I owned the HekSE before getting the Susvara by trading the former up for the latter. I have to rely therefore on imprecise Audio memory of the Hekse when comparing them since a side by side no longer exists for me as an option. Under these conditions, the Susvara has always struck me as the one with he wider and deeper staging of the two, although I also have to admit that I'm pairing the Susvara with far more accomplished amps now, amps which were not available to me when I owned the HekSE... One certain data point is that on the InPol Ear rocking a pair of Telefunken Nos Tubes from the 1950s, the Susvara sounds more spacious and cleaner than the HeKSE ever sounded to me when I owned it, and I say that with all applicable caveats in place, including our own time-honored "YMMV."
Oh and, FWIW, the DAC in play is the Sonnet Morpheus.
Just joking. I know there are many options. I have no intention of traveling on this quest with some of you and I am perfectly happy with my setup. Good luck all!
Well if this implies that I won't hear the benefits of the CFA3 without also getting the pre-amp and the tubes, then I am somewhat disappointed, as I have been eyeing the CFA3 as a complement to my Morpheus for driving the susvara, but without any pre-amp or additional tweaks... Should this be a concern?

Well I’ve had the preamp in my system way before CFA3 is there. And I have no plans to get rid of it so I have no idea how CFA3 sounds without the preamp. But CFA3 sounds a lot better than 13R in my system so it’s a no brainer for me to keep CFA3 and sell 13R.

You're missing the point, the CFA3 is a clean, powerful, and authoritative amp. Having a tube preamp is only required if you want a tube sound, with SS advantages in technical performance. This goes for the AHB2 and other similar amps.
CFA3 for me. No idea if it’s the best or whether it would be better with a tube pre-amp. But for the first time I’m not motivated by “what if x is better?”. So clean, powerful, detailed and spacious. Amazing amp. And phenomenal value for money.
I will try a tube pre eventually but it can wait for now. For me the tuning is spot on especially with my R2R DAC.
Head-Fi may be temporarily unavailable on Wednesday, April 17, 2023, for roughly 45 minutes for system maintenance and updates. This maintenance window will begin roughly around 11:15 PM ET. Thank you for understanding.
