One of the greatest albums of all time. Oh to have been there Man . I worked in a jazz club in the early 90’s and this album always takes me back to that time. The Susvara are the best representation of that album I’ve heard. Thanks for bringing it up!just finished listening to bill evan live at the vanguard...no slam required lol

So question: What would be the "Punchy monster" headphones that would complement the Susvara?True, the Sus wasn’t intended to become a punchy monster, regardless of what’s driving it.
Some people suggest the 1266, any others?
I can see that. For me its all 3.I love both the susvara and the abyss tc but I dont think what I like about the abyss is "slam"...it is of course the bass but for me it is the spaciousness and detail
Slam <> Spaciousness <> Detail
Get the TC if you can. LCD5 could be interesting. So question: What would be the "Punchy monster" headphones that would complement the Susvara?

People like the Utopia too but its less of a complement than the TC, to the Sus, IMO, tuning-wise.

For me Utopias and susvaras cover two different angles of indulgence in this hobby that have me coveredSo question: What would be the "Punchy monster" headphones that would complement the Susvara?

Well amped susvaras and utopias give me a hugely transparent option and a punchy detailed option.
and my need for filled out mids in their own way is covered by both.
after that any other headphones give me additional flavours. Hello potential lcd5???
i have never heard the abyss but happy to keep utopias rather than go tc1266 (where i read mids are slightly withdrawn) - but this is all about personal preferences of course
what i am going to do with my empys i have no idea. Keep or sell to fund next purchase of lcd5 (again not sure) or dac upgrade maybe.
the empys are an indulgence in indulgence but i’ll just sit on them til i need funds

Utopias are so dynamic with fantastic punch... some of the best when well driven.Utopias punchy? Tell me what city you’re in and I’ll Google an audiologist for you.
Huge misconceptions out there that because they're bright they have poor bass. I was one of those for the longest time.
The issue is that they can clip at a very high dB/ recording with extreme energy in sub bass, and once you hit the clipping point, it really falters.
