HiFiMan Susvara

Roksan K3 arrived but neither my Susvaras nor the speaker TAP is here yet.
So could only test M30 to Roksan K3 to Flux FA-10 to Denon AH-D9200 and with this hell of a chain with mixed cables and multi amping I preferred the signature directly out of M30 but that says absolutely nothing of course about the targeted pairing
Look forward to your impressions when the Sus arrives.

Have wondered about Shanling's new products, not for the Sus, but in general.

Benchmark AHB2's output is 100W into 8 Ohms which is approx. 13 Watts into the 60 Ohms Susvaras. So yes, plenty of power.

However it's not just the power as a quantity. It's also how the power is delivered to the Susvaras which should be a lot of current with a low output impedance. Planar Magnetics need lots of current to sound their best !

Give you a real life example:-
My Chord Mezzo 140 is 120W into 8 Ohms i.e. approx. 16 Watts into the Susvaras. My Susvara's sounded pretty good and definetly not feeling underpowered.
My Hifiman EF1000 is 20W into 35 Ohms i.e. approx. 11.7 Watts into the Susvaras.
Yet the EF1000 makes my Susvaras sing a lot more than my Mezzo 140 does and that is with my Mezzo coupled via my Chord Prima Pre-Amp and direct to my Chord DAVE. And yet the Mezzo 140 has an additional 4 Watts into my Susvaras.
I wonder how the new Enleum HP Amp23R will stack up? On high gain mode it outputs 25 watts.

I'm so glad I got my 13R before it went out of production, absolutely love the aesthetic, size, and sound, on the other hand the 23R replacing it looks hella awkward with its tiny feet and fat chassis. They totally went the wrong way with the design, imo ofc...

“What’s relevant now is performance the AMP-13R and Susvara delivered as a package. To my ears it’s the closest to sonic perfection to date. Neither I’ve heard a headfi team more exquisite, emotionally loaded, involving, alive, complete and balanced all at once, nor I think I will anytime soon. ‘Works awesome’ indeed…”. Could the repackaged new Enleum AMP-23 best this review??

When he pairs the ENLINK together, yes...

Why successor? Susvara beats already all other headphones and some totl headphones by a big margin!
I see at least two headphones on par, but yeah Hifiman has no meed to release a successor, the Susvara is certainly still at the very top, even if no longer alone.

Because once the majority of your audience has purchased your current 'best effort headphone', you need to bring a new one out in order to start the income train rolling all over again. That, and maybe the guy just wants to keep pushing the sonic envelope. Never rest on your laurels.

Don't misunderstand me.
Haven't questioned Susvara to be TOTL enough.

I just wanted to be sure not to go through the same story as with Meze:

1 month ago I had already ordered the OG Empyrean and then learnt through my contacts that Meze Elite is about to be announced.
So I canceled my order.
Just want to be safe for a while and then potentially look for upgrading my chain in the long run 😉

And say a successor will be revealed, does it necessary mean it’ll be better?
Also, as we see the price inflation in this hobby, I’d guess you’ll have to pop at least $8.5K if not $10K.
If you like the Susvara, buy them, then shutdown your head-fi account :L3000:

If you’re spending that kind of coin for that amp, you might as well spend that money for a psychiatrist. My comments have nothing to do with how it sounds. It’s just that this is robbery without a gun.
