I finally found the OG Susvara pads / headband that Hifiman sent me some time ago.
This look should have been the standard honestly, including black plastic attachment rings and not brown ones.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, I found OG pads to be more comfortable. Do they change the sound at all? I've been to lazy to swap my OG pads on the unveiled.

I don't think so, it's most likely cosmetic only.

Hard to say definitely, seems more like a side grade.
Considering price of OG Susvara on used market (or bstock from hifiman) it's hard to justify buying Unveiled version.

I agree with this. I don’t think it is lower dynamics either, but I do think it is more source chain-dependent. I found cables matter more with it, too. The Arctic Cables Euphoria and Opera v3 gave it more body, but that only adds more to the cost, too.

I also liked the unveiled more than the OG when I've demo'ed them. In fact, the difference is enough that I can say I really liked the unveiled, but just couldn't get into the OG. And dynamics struck me as better on the unveiled. But, I listen at very low volume, and it may be that the OG just needs to be cranked up more than I prefer before it comes alive.

well you are the whisperer after all lol...actually I suspect for you the unveiled would definitely be better because it doesnt need to be ramped up to shine

Stock vs Stock, OG is more dynamic to me. The cable for Unveiled just doesn’t work well with hence the need for more synergistic cable

100%, the Unveiled needs a better cable. I know you’re a proponent for the stock cable for the OG, but it is a joke with the Unveiled. The Norne Vygarde was good with it, but the AC Opera v3 took it another level above. Gave the Unveiled body and note weight without losing resolution and speed. From my recollection the Euphoria was a really good pairing with it, too.

How is Unveiled responding to analogue EQ? After 2 weeks with UNV (with Luna Gris cable) the shortcomings are obvious, especially with Elrog 300MO in the chain. Yes, you got "Licht, mehr Licht"* (to quote last Goethe's words) but I'm not surprised if many would prefer OG (let's say 15% more veiled, with 15% smaller stage, less sublime vocals but with a substantially better slam/dynamics/more pronounced bass and just being a perfect all-rounder). Thinking about purchasing Shiit's Lokius to beef-up UNV a bit. Also, the difference between both headphones is quite significant, I reckon. First time I heard UNV in my chain, I thought it sounded like a cross between OG and Raal's SR1. The sound is so direct and laser sharp. If I didn't have Erzetich Charybdis I would be thinking about selling UNV/keeping OG now.

I have yet to hear the Unveiled, but if " light ,more light" in this case means a clearer more open and uncoloured and less veiled SQ,I will most probably prefer it over OG although that is the best planar I have heard.
But would I buy one? NO.
Both are imo" toys for very rich boys."

Just received pure silver 0.99999 5N interconnects, wow !
Suddenly the bass, the slam is there and the difference between OG and UNV got so much smaller.
Today, do not have much more time to scrutinise it, but it seems silver cables in the chain drastically change UNV's sound signature.
I'm flabbergasted
