Is this a statement from TeamHiFiMAN China or US?

Was hoping to test/review it one of these days, but now don't know what to think of it...

I was told that this is from Hifiman team in China - official response from Dr Fang.

So you think an ambiguous reply from a customer support guy is more "official" than the founder and CEO himself?

ambiguous is a wrong word to use over here, it was a unvalidated response and given Dr Fang has already replied and confirmed, I think we should move on and wait for the good news.

Just got the device tonight and confirmed removal of local playback option. Only bluetooth and usb dac option I see.
I just love the size and design but what a waste if I need the phone next to it.
The sound wise it is quite transparent and raw, more so than LPG on some genres. Too piercing and fatiguing to listen
on U18 but when listening on Fourte it toned down a bit and opened up wide...Remarkable achievement in having bluebooth
connection to play at this level. I find this to be just a dummy streaming device with no other option letting phone to do all the work.
Still not sure if it's worth keeping it if there's no local playback option.

If life gives you lemons.......

Of course nobody was thinking $2500 lemonade. What the hell are they thinking over at Hifiman? Not good for the Hifiman brand and headed to an LH Labs level of product readiness fail.

I hope they have fixed/replaced the volume wheel on the actual player. When i tested the player at CanJam London 2018, i was very disappointed with the actual volume wheel. Perfect for a 50$ music player but totally unacceptable for a 2500$ device.

Bluebooth audio connection keeps on dropping while driving or walking across the office buildings. The battery seems to drain quickly
while device not in-use. Luckily, I got the local playback by getting the unofficial firmware from the HFM. It is still primitive
but can serve its purpose although it's still buggy. I was blown away by the pure power and impact this tiny thing brings...
it's completely unveiled and overwhelming (could blow up your ear drum).

From my point of view, it is an epic fail... The raw firmware, the tricks with local playback (right before oficial release). The wrong information about lifetime of battery (at start it was declared about 30 hours, lol).
Troubles with bluetooth along with the lack of the HD APTX or LDAC. And 2500 USD price level!

This is unacceptable for any respectable and big brand. For me Hifiman doesn't exist anymore. RIP and thank you Fang for 801 (that is still his best child).

Comparing to sp1000ss through fourte I find sp1000 to be more dispersed in sound making it a little wider but each notes are better defined/separated under r2r2k.
Bass is more defined and tighter making it more impactful and hard hitting in r2r2k. Overall I find it more enjoyable to listen on r2r2k, not to mention about the pocketable size
it offers. This one you can't listen on high volume. You will know what I mean if you have a chance to listen on it. The main issue I have with r2r2k is that battery doesn't last too long.
.around 4.5 hours under hifi mode.
