I contacted the seller, it's easecase guy. Sounds like a good idea to punch that power button cover :)

A little bit of noise on balanced, lower on unbalanced - not a black background but nothing that would concern me unless you play Birdy's Skinny Love at really low levels all the time. I used an 8 wire for a short test and found the pairing to be very good actually for clean stuff like EDM with excellent low-end impact and good treble extension. A very analog tone with plenty of warmth on the Red and a touch cleaner and more holographic on the black. Personally I would grab the black R2R with the Equinox but this is like a 10-minute test.

Is it normal for the “low battery, switch to Eco mode: yes/no” warning to pop up after around 3 hours of use? According to the spec sheet, it can do 8 hrs give or take on Hifi mode.

I used it on High Gain (vol is 10), Hifi mode, played 1 DSD album, and the rest is just 24 bit FLAC albums.

Yes, it’s normal. I’ve got around 6,5hrs of hifi in slg mode.
Somebody wrote about 4hrs of playback.

    Hey,
what do you guys think, SQ wise, is it worth upgrading from the OG hm-901 (balanced) to R2R2k red or maybe I should just get an upgrade to the hm901S? What about other devices like LPG or Sony NW-WMZ1 (too pricey for me tho) and how they fare against R2R2k red, also is a R2R2k black worth the addition 1.5k$? I plan to use it with Hifiman HE-560 headphones and HFM RE2000 IEMs. Sound quality is the main thing I'm looking for. Appreciate any advice...

It's fair to ask about your familiarity with PCM1704 based DAPs. Many of our staff would transition to R2R2k from HM-901 in a heartbeat.

I had a HM-801 with balanced and game card, which I liked it a lot in terms of SQ...

Hello , this player cannot read Cues ? Meaning if album is one big file can this player read the cue inorder to player individual tracks.

    No cue support.

Thats not good cause many of my albums have cue. Soundwise its pretty good but its focus seems to be on the vocals and instruments. Yeah I would think thats what music is about , but for me theres more. I wouldnt put this dap in my top 3 daps in sound but it has a unique sound.

For me the R2R will sound great with a non bright headphone , but its sounding nice with the th900. All in all the sound from the r2r is focused on vocals and details. Its a very reference sounding dap , everything is heard. Very defendant on the recording , on some recordings theres plenty of bass , but on other recordings bass will be less present.
