No dust cover on either the HE-6 or HE-400 here.

  Anyone regrilled some 400is yet?

@conquerator2 over in the HE-560s thread will have the touring(?) HE-400is, and I think he plans on re-grilling them, though I could be wrong about that.  He said he'd post some comparisons.

I will. [Don't rush me!]
However, only one of the two will receive the regrilling mod [which will be the one that stays, the other will go back/be sold].
Owning both is useless IMO, they're both very good but not different enough to justify them both.

LOL... DO IT NOW!!!!  (j/k   Just answering the man's question.

So, that's a "not definite" on re-grilling HE-400is.  Got it.

No... I am slowly compiling my thoughts on the two... Gotta say, Jerg's review is kinda spot on [on both]... I guess I'll just rephrase it with my own words

The 560 seems like it'll be the one to receive the grill mod, for now.

Planning to do this mod but have to start looking for the grill and dust cover material.
My place is very dusty.. so definitely needed it
Any recommended thickness to be used for the grill.
Else the plastic ring will not sit in to hold the grill, if I am right but could be wrong..

Ok, I've purchased the following for the mod:

Grills - 2x http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000KH9V1W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cover - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00935HQLY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If supplies allow, I'd love to make a set for both the 400i and 560. If not, only the 560 will receive this mod.

Hopefully, the materials are good enough

Hope your grills work out.  You do know it's really easy to swap the grills between cans, right?  Just sayin'.

Excellent work. Care to comment on HE-500 sonic changes?

Thanks

They definitely sound more open especially with the vocals. It's not a super drastic change but noticeable. The bass is just as nice as ever but because the mids sound airier I think the bass depth and impact has improved. I'm keeping this mod. Still no issues with dust
