it depends on the iem really but with my 4ba the 3.5se is super clean. they did a great job with the hymalaya chip, if i ever get a desktop setup might aswell opt for the ef600
Hi, how would you rate the sound of the himalaya compared to the R2R2k DAP you had?

My brother have r2r2000 and new HM1000 with Himalaya chip — it's worse than Lotoo Gold and far away from r2r2000, there is no miracle! Burr Brown 1704 was a pinnacle of very precise and yet abaddoned technology (laser trimmng, etc.). Some modern advanced r2r designs can compete with it, but almost never in compact design. Hifiman is not a famous semiconductor company, their "new chip" looks more like Chord fgpa matrix with it's limitations.

do you know if the hm1000's presentation and sound has the same forwardness in your face like the r2r2000?
yes it have same sound character as r2r2000, but more pure, detailed, dense and refined.
Hi, you consider the sound of r2r2k better than himalaya, but you describe the details that are better in himalaya, interesting) So why do you prefer 1704k? Is your HM1000 black much better than r2r2k black? I prefer a full DAP, so it's hard for me to try the himalaya devices so far.

I don't describe my own experience, because, as i told, I didn't have a chance to listen Himalaya HM1000, I am only tested r2r2000 black vs HM1000 and last one is a lot better. I prefer 1704k over all dac chips I listened. Next come TDA1541A S2.
