You are welcome!
When you say that you don't like the sound from your 250 Ohm headphones out of the HM-901 with IEM amp card, I am not surprised since the IEM amp card only has a max voltage swing of 1.4 Volts. This is far from good for high impedance headphones. High impedance headphones need a lot more voltage (but needs just a little Ampere).
Now you have two choices:
1. Keep the 250 Ohm headphones (but only for use with desktop / home amplifier).
2. Get a headphone with lower impedance (like the HE-560) and be able to use it with both the HM-901 and via desktop / home amplifier.
Again you are right, at the miment I already ordered external desktop/home Amplifier Hifiman EF5 for my Hifiman901.
But I have one day to abort this order without any problem. And I cannot make up my mind.
You see I have never used tube home amplifier (actually EF5 is hybrid, but you know what I mean). And I am not sure that I need it. Will it make music quality better? Is there any difference?
As the owner of two hi end home amps what would you recommend? Buy it and try it?
I can afford this amp as it is not expensive. And I cannot try such things at a store somewhere in a shop as I cannot concentrate there, I feel properly relaxed only at home.
* I will buy HE-560 in any case. And I can give away my 250 OHM headphones to my brother for free as a gift
