HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama

Jumping into the thread to say that I just got my pair a few days ago (picked up an open box pair because I figured they'd be less likely to have any QA issues). Wow, these sure do come with a lot of caveats, but once I took care of those out-of-the-box issues (amplification, headband, ear pads, cable), these sound and feel incredible. They also reveal every slight and subtle tweak to my (modest) setup, so it's taken a bit of work to get these things sounding their best. But... whoa.
Thanks for that. Like most here, it doesn't agree with the few fun tuning crew objecting to the 6 SE because it has a bass Q that indicates it starts and stops at about the proper amount to play bass accurately. Does it need a bass shelf? Yes to make up for the open back (no screen) here, I use a low shelf +2.4 db at 37 Hz Q 1.1. The 6 SE simply does not hype lower mids (tenors that sound like basses), or have overblown slow sludgy mid/upper bass. Plenty of closed back bass cannons available to satisfy that crowd.

Totally. They're not great in all use cases, but what headphones are? Like most folks, I give them a bit of an EQ bass bump and attenuate the upper treble. They complement my dynamic driver Focals perfectly.

More significantly, the HE6seV2's are the first pair of headphones I've owned that convince me to sit, relax, and just listen to music. Headphone listening has pretty much always been about keeping me bopping while working or for doing some gaming or movie watching late at night. I've always reserved dedicated music listening to my big living room setup. This is the first time I'm finding myself choosing my headphone rig over my speaker rig for "serious" music listening.

I sold my near field speakers, largely because I also found my 6SE and HE-500 were much preferred, sound better, take up way less space as well. Only other open back I have anymore is HD 600, because well, it's the HD 600.

These easily compete with a nice set of speakers (and IMO wipe the floor off them too).

Yup. As you know those are my main cans as well and yes assuming you leave out the physicality of bass and a large stereo image - then yes, far better than speakers anywhere near the prices paid for those 3 cans. The HD-600 is as good as ProAc Tablette, the HE-500 is a dead ringer for the ProAc EBS, and the 6 SE as good as a BMR Philharmonic Monitor.

Edit add: And the HFM HEK Stealth (with some EQ) is quite close to the Maggie MG-3.7i, The Rall CA-1a with the filter on a DAVE and Pass Int-25 betters some $20k speakers, and rivals $100k ones - in my experience.

Hi guys, I just got these headphones and I'm wondering if there's a way to tighten the size adjustments? One side on mine is a little loose and tends to drop down a few notches. I can easily get it back and have it stay there, but the initial placement on my head sometimes pushes on side down.

Other than that, these things sound great on my system! Awesome bang for your buck headphones as long as they're fed well.

Chain: PC (Qobuz) ↠ Supra USB cable / iFi iPurifier2 ↠ Gustard U18 (←Harmonic Technology Digital Copper III BNC cable ← LHY OCK-2) ↠ Tubulus Concentus I2S cable ↠ Gustard R26 (←Tubulus Concentus BNC cable ← LHY OCK-2) ↠ Clone Odin XLR cable ↠ 2023 Burson Soloist 3X GT

As cheaply made as the headband is, it shouldn't be slipping. Sounds like a QC issue and should be covered for replacement--assuming you didn't get them secondhand.

But like so many others with this set, the stock headband was a bad fit all around for my big ugly noggin. I almost immediately ordered the (totally-not-condoms-despite-the-name) "Newly Enhanced Comfort" headband. It's also a cheaply-made headband, but it sure feels and works a lot better than the stock one. Faux-leather support strap, 180-degree swiveling yokes. Worth the additional $75 after getting the headphones themselves for what feels like a steal.

EDIT: It's worth noting that installing the "Newly Enhanced Comfort" headband requires you to (literally) handle the driver. Swapping headbands wasn't a hard process (it's screwdrivers, all the way down), but it does require a little confidence and/or foolhardiness.

Thanks, I got these used so I think I’m out of luck with any sort of warranty replacement. I’ll look at some headband options. Thanks!

我记得我的1570年代。他们对 iFi Pro iCAN 非常满意!就像听扬声器一样。他们不幸地比 HE6se V2 早了几周。而且它们真的很重。我只在脱下或穿上它们时注意到。

我想再次听到他们的声音。
Do you still pair he6se with ican? I think you have try a lot of amp, can you give me some advise?

I have tried all my amps with them. I LOVE them, but only with the iFi Pro iCAN and then with bass boost and 3D engaged. That pair is a solid third place in my collection.

The V2's are the only ones that require a special partner.

My top three headphones are:
1) Focal Clear
2) Grado GH2
3) HiFiman HE6se V2 w/iFi
