It's these guys:
https://drop.com/buy/dekoni-premium-earpads-for-fostex-th-x00

Elite sheepskin for TH-X00, with the attenuation ring. Not sure if the TH-X00 pads are easily attainable elsewhere since they're a "Drop exclusive" etc.

TH-900 pads work well too (they're they same as HiFiMAN pads except they're flat along the edges instead of gently tapering inwards at the base), but the TH-X00 pad with the attenuation ring has been the magic sauce for me.

I had Dekoni TH-900 Hybrid pads for quite a while and they were great. Hybrid TH-X00 pads without the attenuation rings were an improvement. Adding the attenuation rings thickened but slowed the bass, so it's more of how you prefer your presentation.

Sheepskin TH-X00 pads were very honky sounding without the attenuation rings, very unpleasant. With the rings, yeah, can't believe my hears. Hah.
Thank you for the detailed history and take on using those pads, with and without the ring. Greatly appreciated!

How does the attenuation ring work? Could I get the same results with just taping that shape over the driver to direct the sound? Is it made of some sound dampening material? Looks like a pice of plastic

EDIT: I see now you use them on the dekoni th-x00 pads, that make more sense I guess. Would have any positive effects when using the stock (Round opening) pads?

That's a good question. I thiiiiink it would make a difference as the sound is tunnelling through a narrower opening on the THx00 pads without getting absorbed by the pad.

Which headphone would you recommend as un upgrade to HE6se with same sound signature (linear, balanced, punchy, etc) ?

As you can see in my signature i have tried a lot of headphones but HE6se was always the winner.

Susvara is an upgrade no doubt but it doesn't slam like a HE6SE if that is important. I found the susvara very musical, smooth and even laid back if I may say so. But resolution, soundstage and a super refined tuning was the biggest upgrade for me.

That’s interesting, what I love with HE6se is how it connect to the music (but still without obvious coloration, it has a very linear sound signature), for example HE1000 v2 was very nice but it has a sort of a distance (I always had to push volume), maybe Susvara is not a super HE6se.

Yes there is a certain raw energy about the HE6SE that is missing with the Susvara which has a posh, refined sound.

I see that you have ADX5000, how does it compare to HE6se ?

I’ll take that HE6se off your hands when you find what you’re looking for.

The truth is that I’m perfectly happy with HE6se but you know about this rabbit hole…
Maybe I should try speaker amp (my headphone amp is class A 2x10w @50 ohm however).
