I know nothing else about this, but it sure is interesting :) Looks like it uses the same headband, darker wood, and "Stealth Magnet" system as the Susvara. Perhaps all it lacks is the gold coating on the diaphragm?

Susvara owners may also feel ripped off for paying $6k for the Susvara, for which the main unique technical highlight is the stealth magnet system on top of everything the HE1000 introduced. Well, now the HE1000se has stealth magnets too for a much lower price I would assume (maybe not).

There's still the difference of the Susvara having a double sided magnet array vs the HE1000's single of course, both will probably be tuned differently but nonetheless...

Are you sure the HEK is single-sided? I’m pretty sure it’s double sided. The 560 was single sided.

I am not sure, just going off memory.

I’m pretty sure it’s double sided. The problem is that the type of magnets used are not powerful enough to control the drivers (needs to be neodymium), which is why the bass is a little loose. Also, Hifiman doesn’t seem to tension their drivers as high as Audeze does. Those two companies need to share notes. Audeze always has amazing bass with no upper mids or treble. Hifiman always has great upper mids and treble but looser bass. Give me a headphone with the upper mids, treble, and soundstage of the Susvara and the bass of the LCD X and I will be done with this hobby —————-> endgame achieved.

Yeah I feel the same way about Audeze and HiFiMan, although no planar could ever be my end game.

How do you feel about the Abyss Phi?

Just hold out another year or two for the HE1000V. At this rate, save your money folks.

It’s just ridiculous. Charging $500 more than the HEK V2 because he added Neodymium magnets? Nothing else? And charging $1799 for the HE6, which is old technology, because of a new HEADBAND??? Was Fang drunk when he made these decisions?

He should write a book called, “How to lose customers and alienate people”. I’m a fan of Hifiman and I just can’t support this nonsense.

I owned both HE1000 and 1000V2 and glad that I got rid of them. No, the V2 sounded quite great but I refuse to give him my money any more. You will be lucky to get even $1100 from the HE1000 these days so who would want to buy the HE1000 V2 now? Feel bad for the retailers as well. They will have a tough time getting rid of their 1000 V2 stock.
