Shame I could't get a comfortable fit with the Odin. And the adjustment mechanism is just dumb

False, once well set with the adjustment knobs "2 axis" (nb: also, don't hesitate to twist outwards, the metal headband, to have less lateral pressure), comfort is just as good (or bad, depending on perspective

), see even a little better than that of the LCD3 (thanks to its flexible leather headband  suspension).

See, also,  the many adjusting photos and testimony, on the thread Kennerton.

I bought a pair of he-1000 last week. I'm currently burning them in. I'm a bit worried about my set. Both drivers have what look like veins or wrinkles inside them. I'm not sure what this is. Is it normal? In this picture you can see them primarily on the left hand side.

Yes, mine has them in both drivers. I consider it normal - no worries. The sound is clean and immaculate.

There were similar posts in the HE400i thread. I also do not think it is a concern.

send the pics to HiFiman and let us know what they say about it.

To me this is not normal!
In our (audiophile) world, minor differences in housing, material, geometry ...etc. affect sound freq

It is tough to see what veins or wrinkles you are looking at from this detailed picture.
There is a thin pantyhose like nylon cover that helps to prevent dust from the drivers on top.  This layer have irregularities.  I have minor ones on mine as well.  If you look this close to other TOL headphones like LCD3, K812, HD800, SR009 or even Orphesus; you may see as well.  Some not so easy as the driver color may blend into the fabric on top.  If it is this that you are seeing, there is no effects on sound.

Now, if the veins or wrinkles are on the metal surfaces, you should send back for an exchange.
Just move the fabric a bit to see where the irregularities are.

That's what I'm wondering. I've sent email to ask the company

I have maybe 50 hours on them so far. They sounded rough out of the gate but now they just keep getting better and better. They're quite a contrast to my LCD-X (which I love)

I am currently considering the HE1000 as an upgrade to my LCD-X.

Do you mind making a comparison for me and do you think one is truly better than the other? Thanks.

I'll post a comparison. It may be a while, though. They are supposed to need 140-150 hours to burn in. If I'd given an opinion a couple of days ago it would have been much different than today.

Thank you kindly, I am very interested as I am currently looking to own these and the LCD-X.
