Interesting products, but if they don't improve female vocals tonality and unless HE6SE is significantly better than Ananda, I won't be interested in. Ananda falls short of my expectations.

Omg the legend is back, I hope that Fang will upgrade the old but gold HE-500 to

How about he farms that off to MassDrop !! MD500 for $450, HE6 for $899, watch the sales HFM cans between 500-1200 take a dive.

Ananda is a totally different technology from the HE-6 or HE-500. Haven't heard the 6 or the Ananda yet, but the 500 has nothing to prove in terms of female vocals which is about 65% of my listening.

What is your SOTA can for female vocals under $1k? Please don't say LCD-2....

I'm on a plane to Iceland in about 4 hours, be back on the 23rd to see what this thread produces - which should be interesting.

Yeah, I have no issues with female vocals on the HE-500, HE-6, or HE1000.

I've not heard the Ananda yet, but the Edition X's (either) had exception female vocals.

Kinda disappointed in the price of $3500USD for the HE1000SE, as I was genuinely interested in them. It would have been neat if it had been $3000USD like the V2's. With the Meze Empyrean coming in at $3000USD, that is likely to be tough competition. I guess the best idea is to listen to both if possible, and buy whichever you prefer.

Audio46 is selling the HE1000 V1 for $2100 ... seems like the best option.

Edit: Just noticed, it's an open box sale. Probably the only one too. So, never mind.

Female vocals are about 75% of my listening. I actively use EQ these days, and enjoy EQed aeon flow open. Without EQ, it is too dark for my taste.

I've seen used ones from reputable sellers around Head-Fi for $1,100 - 1,300.

Holy moly, I never would have contemplated HiFiMAN resurrecting the HE-6. All the improvements (to comfort and including the adapter for connecting it to power amps) are great.... but this remains out of my price range.

Is it me? or are all of these new releases are just getting out of control? I guess we will be the ones to decide when its enough. I think that as long as the heapdhones continue to sell, the company will continue this path. Dr Fang is definitely an aggressive businessman. Good for him, but I am not buying for now

Yeah, headphones are like smartphones nowadays - new releases every 3 monthes, full of 'revolutionary' technologies every time :) So, you spent several monthes exploring a new model, reading reviews, asking questions on forums etc.., already going to buy it and.... BOOM!! Take a newer model please! :)

Yeah, the HEX is a fantastic headphone but it feels like it might just shatter into dust when you put them on. If they could just get build quality right I feel like they would earn a big part of the market share in hi-fi really quick. They're already about there with the stuff they've got now despite the issues, I feel like they would almost certainly sell substantially more if they were built better.
