wow thats a fast introduction.... Wonder if the new HE-6 is going to cannibalize the HE-5LE's sale.  The price difference is huge but....

Why gold!? Doesn't make sense..audiophool earwashing if you ask me.

And releasing a super high end priced product when they had issues with the first one, discontinued it and then are having inconsistencies in the second one with regards to sound..Doesn't hold too much water am afraid. Nonetheless more orthos are always welcome, but for goodness sake don't muck up the neo-ortho era by rushing out unfinished, untested and poorly tuned products with a weak Q&A structure. Whatever happened to attention to the details?!

Hehe, I didn't know that term, quite fitting. But I think the "inconsistencies" part is not so accurate; yes, there are recommendations by the manufacturer to change the sound by moding the HE-5LE, but people were already giving very good reports on the sound before those recommendations, and still are.

I know, I can be skeptical too. Kind of wonder if they can justify the price. I mean, at least with Ed8's, I'm getting a big piece of jewelery. Maybe they've been developing new drivers all along? Oh well, hoping for new information soon...

I don't think I've seen any newly-announced product not have some issues, whether from a huge manufacturer or a small one.  If everyone got it right first time, it'd be rare that anything was ever released.

However, the price bracket these headphones fall into is a pretty tough one.  They'll be competing with very serious headphones.

By using "audiophool" and "doesn't make sense" in the same sentence, you will realize that it makes perfect sense. An audiophool and his money are soon parted. And when the upgraded version (featuring housings made from rare dinosaur fossils and damping made from feathers of the rare Peregrine falcon) comes out, we'll rush out to buy that one too.
