^^ I would mostly agree with you on this. There is definitely some bite and hard edge to the treble on the lcd-d with some serious bass thump. I like the lcd2 and lcd3 much better.

As much as I admire the lcd2 and 3, I've sworn them off until Audeze redesigned to whole structure to reduce the weight. Hm...seemed like another company I know just did this very thing.

My thoughts exactly, even though I already own a HE-500 and would love to own an Auduze headphone, the HE-560 just interests me more due to the weight issue.

I don't want to turn the thread into Audeze bashing because I for one don't really care how heavy the Audeze headphones are.  Their earpads are supremely comfortable but their headband design leaves a lot to be desired.  Frankly something that's 650grams like the XC but with a suspension strap like the 560 would be very comfortable if done right.  Frankly shaving 150grams with the 560 I don't consider a technical feat because it's well documented that single ended planars have pros and cons vs double ended so I could care less about that as well.

I don't mind the treble and bass too much of the X but it's the midrange that's got me perplexed.  When I was looking at the measurements on Innerfidelity I went to ask the people in the LCD-X thread if the midrange was recessed because it looked like the midrange of the HE-400 objectively, and they answered back quickly and defensively with a resound no.  Here I am comparing the two sound by side and the midrange of the LCD-X sounds a lot like the midrange of the HE-400.  Just goes to show you how much you CAN'T trust people on Head-Fi because half the time they don't know what they're talking about. (This isn't to say that this type of coloration isn't a bad thing because I've enjoyed the HE-400 for the past 2 years.)

I'm hesitant to write up any LCD-X vs HE-560 comparison anytime soon because I'm afraid the 'production' model of the 560 will have slight sonic changes.  I guess in the meanwhile I'll have plenty of listening to both of these headphones.

apologies for my odd humor. no offense meant.

If someone on a forum says you can't trust the people on said forum, it's a bit of a logic loop.

Yeah that's somewhat true.  Anybody has the right to not trust me as well.  What i mean by 'people' on head-fi is the random person whom you haven't grown to trust through their reviews or impressions of other gear that you've heard as well.  Anyways enough about the LCD-X.  Let us continue to make posts about wanting the 560 to ship.

Gosh, its amazing how different people feel for the same product. Every time I wear the HE-4 (not the 560 I admit), I am afraid its going to fall off. Love the Audez'e for that very reason. Anyway, an unnecessary digression. And I'm in line for the 560 ONLY after all kinks have been sorted out.

@TMRaven: Audeze is known for having high variability in sound for the same headphone; your neighbors LCD-X might sound better than yours (and vice versa).
I did notice a slight recession in the upper-mid (which makes the voices slightly "heavy" and dull) followed by this treble spike that emphasizes hiss in songs. It is still far from the HE-400 here, though (which I consider flawed). However, I still prefer the 400's bass to the fat LCD-X's.
