Anything around the $500 range should have the new cable jacks that go into the earphones. You can tell, the box is not the wooden box, it's like a leatherette.  Also less likely to have the sibalance issues. You'll also get that without enough power. But as stated the ifi micro idsd is great with all of the switches to the far right settings. In some situations it may not need the turbo, but I found that it was better with.

Each to his own, of course, but I had the 650, still have the 560 and the HEK, 560 was my favorite until I got the HEK, no contest (IMO), HEK just better (which it SHOULD be at more than 3 times the price).

Excuse my naivete...But HEK = ? He 1000?

I'm interested in planar types and will get one but confused over the current 400i over the 560, is there anyone here that can elaborate the clear difference between the two in sound quality, simple english and no bias and bs.

 
reference of what type of sound i like: well if you can compare the wm8740 dac and pcm5102 on the e10k I like the pcm5102 because it sound cleaner, BUT I like the wm8740's bass since it has more detail and reaches really low, if you can mix the two up then its perfect for me i guess

If you read back through the last month or so, you will have a very clear picture of the amp needs and comparison to the 400i. I would only drive mine with 4000kw and not with anything that colors the sound at any range.

Sound signature difference: 560 is brighter, smoother, better sound stage, lower bass extension, and better details
 
Amp does not need to be super high me, just needs to have good synergy, my Lyr2 is good but need to get some decent tubes over the stock, a Hugo does quite well, Teac HA-501 is another good match.

I got HE560 used recently. I like it but also have HD800, AKG K812 and Elears and Philips X2. Is anyone using He560 with Chord Mojo. it sound good. Just want to know Pairing Mojo vs Hugo?

I do have powerful Violectric V850 dac and HPA V281 amp and balanced cable for HE560 to use with Vio gear. But Mojo does a good job too. I am thinking of Hugo 2 and may be to get rid of Vio setup which is much expensive than Hugo 2 and want to know how good Hugo pairing against Mojo for He560

A few friends and I got together and compared their Hugo, Mojo and a few other amps/DACs, we all liked the Hugo better, its funny since they are both rated the same but the Hugo just sounds so much better than the Mojo with the HE-560.  Mojo with Liquid Carbon is about the same as the Hugo by its self.  Like you I'm waiting for the Hugo2 to show up before looking at amps again, also need time for the wallet to come out of hiding after buying 6 cases of wine at $7k

I think hifiman should spend less making cool looking boxes and spend that into making metal parts instead of plastic for their units. It would solve a lot of their quality issues.
