I could compare only with HD600. To me, as a beginner, HD600 provides dark and warmer tone while HE-560 is much brighter. Something like snare drums came up totally different. Sometimes too bright to my taste. However, my HE-560 has just passed 20-30 hrs so it's hard to tell at this point.

Smc.just want something longer than stock that can also improve the overall sound.

While I'm not a believer and have never heard a headphone cable improve the sound of any headphone so far I believe it maybe possible due the changes in sound I've heard with speaker cables of long runs, but I'm still waiting for someone to show me this.

If you can DIY then its fairly easy to make your own, much cheaper and you can get any length you want and you can also make them as nice as you want and I think after you build 2-3 you will have paid for all the equipment needed with the added knowledge of how to build your own.

As for cables on Amazon, just did a quick search and there are not many choices.  What about ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/HIFIMAN-headphone-cable-version-2-3-5-6-35-balanced-rsa-5ft-10ft-many-color-/221372985710?hash=item338adbb16e:g:KXsAAOxy4dNS-6GJ

I've gotten cables from both merchants, great service and prices.  Hope that's gets you started in the fight direction

How about DIY with this cable? https://www.moon-audio.com/black-dragon-headphone-cable-bulk.html  I am thinking the same as OP. The stock is a bit too short for me.

$14/foot, that's way more I would pay for headphone cables, you can get Mogami cables for $0.54/foot and for me there was no difference between them and a $450 Forza and $500 Double Helix cable, granted the Forza and Double Helix cables look like works of art and if I had unlimited funds then I would use them.  As others have said before, the headphones are the biggest difference in your system.

Bottom line is if you can hear a difference then by all means get the Black Dragon cable, or the double helix nucleotide cable mentioned by @Soundsgoodtome.

IMO a cable won't improve your sound - long expensive cables just degrade your sound the least.

Listening to Rubber Soul on the 560s I've only had for a week or two now. What a great experience. Amazing how well produced/engineered a 51 year old recording sounds on modern high-end gear.

Im interested to know as well, would love to have a little more bass extension :)

The easiest is to either drive them from speaker taps  with the HE-Adapter or one step cheaper - just buy the leather pads for $20 - a bit loss of soundstage but a nice increase in bass punch and extension. I have tried all pads on these and the leather ones are still my favorite.

Cheers!

It's too bad the leather pads are easily the most uncomfortable ones too, in my experience. If it were not for the Focus Pads, I don't think I'd own a pair of HFM headphones at this point. They are so incredibly stiff so I could absolutely see that they would increase bass on the 560 but I'd also only be able to wear them for 20 minutes at a time. I am a glasses wearer but it didn't really cause pain in that area, more the lower jaw.
