I was like .. ok than, I'll find out how good WA6 is with HE-400 so I know it works well with both HD650/HE-400 and just get it.

Sounds like random numbers and hyperbole to me. That kind of jump just doesn't exist at that level in the audiophile world. Kind of like how going from low to mid-fi is much more drastic than mid to high

I will second this post ^^. I had a Fiio E17 and I just got the Fiio E12. 3-4x more power, and somewhat close the Magni. I can barely tell a difference. Any difference is marginal honestly. Only thing that really changed was the volume. The HE-400 is still the HE-400.
 
So the best sound I've achieved so far on the HE-400s are with PLEATHER pads plus my E12 plus Hifimediy Sabre DAC with these EQ settings (not scientific by any stretch). The bass is much more impactful and simply better. The midrange recesses a bit unEQed but once you roll off the treble like this the midrange comes to the front (like it should be) and its a very warm, bassy headphone. I'm fairly sure this is the best I have heard from my pair of HE-400s.

Yea guess you right. What I get from that is basically "WA6 sounds noticeable better to me than Lyr".

Actually... i just noticed i can get a 3.5 mm extender cable to my home setup and use the short one on the travel... costs 100 PLN tops (about 30 dollars), so i think im not gonna get those, but thx >D.

Going from the Fiio E17 to the Asgard with foobar did have a huge impact on the HE-400 (id say soundstage was the part that was impacted the most).
 
I dont know the Magni thou.

hows the lcd2 bass compared to the he-400?
 
i love the warm sound of my hd650 but after hearing some ortho bass i just cant go back lol
 
the he-400 has been getting more head time than my hd650 lately. it could be that im listening to more edm however..

I compared the two in some post a week or so ago in this thread-- but that probably means it's like 100 pages back by now.
 
In short, HE-400 and LCD2's bass are VERY close.  LCD2's bass is tighter, which means HE-400's bass will have more presence often times, yet LCD2's impact remains the same as the more present HE-400's bass.  LCD2 extends slightly better, it hits a solid 30hz with great pressure while HE-400's 30hz isn't as full.

LCD 2 basically = HE-400 bass with HD650 warmth, mids, and treble. It's the closest hybrid of those two if I've ever heard one. I was assured the LCD2 with vegan pads sound basically the same, hopefully. It's the LCD3 that seems to be negatively impacted with vegan pads.

I'll probably go the opposite direction.  I think I'll be getting an HE-6 with speaker amp instead, unless Audeze releases a closed back LCD2 sometime soon.
 
It's too bad Headamp doesn't have HE-6 for demo because I'd totally buy an Emotiva Mini and sign up for that HE-6.

Isn't that what their latest prototype was? A closed back LCD2.

As for HE-6.... I would, but I want that LCD2 smoothness. No more bright headphones for me.
