Just received a Hifiman EF2A a couple days ago.  It worked fine on one computer for several hours, but then tried it on my laptop and just now on my work PC and I'm finding that it works for a few mins and then the music stops abruptly and loud white noise fills my ears.  So it seems like the DAC is loosing it and sending the data stream right to the amp instead.

Has anyone else encountered this?  Anything I can try other than sending it back for an RMA replacement?

Thanks,
Clayton

I'd contact the seller, or hifiman ... I had a similar issue once, but it turned out to be the USB on my computer went dodgy. Does it work on the first computer you tried, still? or was that one of the two (laptop/work).

That's pretty much what I figured, but I was hoping for an answer that'd let me use it tonight.

On visual inspection, nothing looks out of whack? No loose wires, or smoking CPUs?

Have you tried the line in (rather than the USB)?

Moved it to rear USB port and it's been working flawlessly for hours.  Go figure.  Thinking it must be not handling voltages above or below a particular threshold so I'll have to do a return on it to get one that's less finicky and more reliable.

That's very strange. Glad it is at least partially working. Hope you get it sorted.

Actually, I haven't tried the line-level input yet.  Don't have a way to do that, here at work.  I'll be bringing it home with me after work tomorrow and I'll give it a shot.
