It looks like HIFIMAN has decided to take the drivers from the $2999 HE1000-V2, put them in the chassis of the Edition X-V2, call it the Arya, and charge $1599 for them. Very interesting! :nerd:

Specifications:
Sensitivity: 90dB
Impedance: 35Ω
Weight: 404g (14.3oz)
MSRP: $1599

This would have worked perfectly as a massdrop release! Using their high dollar drivers in the old chassis for a much more affordable price. Still pricey but compared to 3000, much more affordable
Funny you say that...in the moon audio listing on the yokes it states "HE1000x". Made me think it may have originally been planned for massdrop.

If I would have known about this I would have waited instead of getting my 1000 V1, c'est la vie. My V1 are still the best combination of soundstage with precision imaging and subbass extension I have heard to date.

Also, must add that I'm digging the name paying homage to that little hottie from GoT

Sorry to double post but I can't stop thinking about this. I'm going way out on a limb here in thinking that this could have been massdrops "flagship" open back, similar to how the ether c is the flagship closed. As a response to all of the requests for a massdrop hd800. I for one would much rather have this than a hd800, and I think when most people realize they could obtain either for around the same price it would be a more fair competition. Then maybe because of the rescent TotL headphone sales lacking on massdrop one of the parties got cold feet? All purely speculation.

So much overlap in the line up.... How does it even work anymore?
It looks like it now goes Sundara ($499), Ananda ($999), Arya ($1599), HE1000se ($3499) and Susvara ($5999). All the other HIFIMAN headphones are either discontinued (or are about to be) or are limited editions.
But even when naming the current lineup, they still made it a little confusing, like why do all of the newest versions of their headphones have word names, but the newest version of the HE1000 is called the 'HE1000se'?!

So is the Arya supposed to sound just like the HEK V2? Or is the newer chassis supposed to alter the sound profile?

I think the idea is essentially to give you 95% of the HEKV2's sound for 55% of their original cost.

I really hope that indeed turns out to be the case. :money_mouth:

Partial agreement but then this makes people more likely to wait on purchasing hifiman headphones when a new one gets released every couple weeks and the price of old models tanks accordingly. Now an HE1000v1 is worth so little even though its essentially the same as both the Arya and v2. One could hold off buying an Ananda to buy a used Arya for only a little more in a couple months time. It's also redundant to have the Arya and the HE1000SE available simultaneously.

Well, the HE1000se has the "stealth magnet" tech featured in the Susvara, as well as "premium" finishing. I'm not sure what other changes have been made. Whether that's worth more than double the asking price of the Arya is another matter... Vote with your wallet.
