Hidizs AP60

Great BT quality - with headphones that support aptX, the wireless stream quality is just as good as with the BlackBerry Q10 streaming music via aptX (and the BB has got a really good BT chip and wireless sound quality).

I would also mainly recommend to use the AP60 with Bluetooth headphones or as a digital source (as soon as the DAC gets enabled through a firmware update), as the sound quality out of the headphone port is not that great (moderate roll-off towards the sub-bass, not so quiet noise floor with really sensitive IEMs regarding the low power output, something odd about the treble). Yeah, I think the AP60 would work best as a pure transport device but not so well for standalone use (headphones directly connected to its output) as the SQ over the headphone output is only average at best imho.

Anyway, here are some pro and contra impressions I sent to another user who asked me via PM:

what if the headphones dont have aptx?

I have now updates custom roms on two old phones and installed viper on them. One the BT stutters at arm length, the other is too slow. Two android phones left, one main and the current backup so cant use them.

the battery is 6 hours?

@mikp

I don't have any headphones without aptX, so cannot test with them, however I think the AP60's Bluetooth stream should be clear and clean with them, too.

Using the MEE audio Air-Fi Matrix², I could easily go 8 meters (~ 26 feet) away from the player without any stuttering.

I've done a battery test with the following parameters:

"To test the battery life, I connected the inexpensive Superlux HD668B, set the volume to 60 (low gain) and played a 44.1 kHz/16 Bit FLAC file in repeat. From time to time, I unlocked the screen and navigated through the menus.
Under these circumstances, the player was able to reach a battery life of around 11 hours."

It will of course be less if you are using Bluetooth.

hello hificris, first i wanna thankyou for your review . it means a lot to me since i wanna buy dap under $100 .

  1. Given that its headphone output is quite weak on power, the amount of hiss with sensitive IEMs is rather high

what do you mean by sensitive iems ? 8-30ohm impendance ?
(ps : i own kz zs3 and sennheiser momentum over ear) .
Am i gonna get hissing that noticeable when i play music from hidizs ?
thankyou for your help once again friend.

@lexusdude

I meant really sensitive multi-BA and dynamic in-ears (SE846, SE425, Triple.Fi 10, ATH-IM03, KC06A, ...). Impedance is not that important for the sensitivity but the SPL spec at 1 mW.

I'm not sure about your ZS3 (probably just a little hiss), but there will be no hiss with the Momentum.
