The RS2 CAN work as an external DAC! I use a lightning to USB-C OTG cable just now and the RS2 display shows a big word ‘DAC’ and it can play the Hi-Res music from Apple Music! Wow 🤩

Hmm, I did not think of that, that does null a few of my complaints. Isn't that too bulky though? or do you think it is manageable?

I guess RS2 is back on my potential buy list. I'm not in a hurry at the moment, enjoying my new EF400 so I'll wait for some comparisons before final decision.

Keep in mind that from the internal photo we can see large electrolytic capacitors on the output which means that RS2 will need 200 hours burn in before you can form opinions. They are Elna Silmic II capacitors, Hiby also use them in R8. Luckily they are my favorite electrolytic capacitors, sound silky and emotional.

Auditioned RS2 alongside my RS6 and R3 Pro and hated what I heard…..

The reason I hated what I heard because it clicked all the boxes that a DAP should achieve:
- compact and small footprint
- R2R
- no all other non-sense like Android, streaming, Bluetooth
- Fit well with Mojo2
- it comes in green

…… and I hated it because now I need to think about whether to sell my RS6 / R3 Pro. crap.

My not-so-critical comparison with RS6 and R3 Pro as transport in a few words

Using VE Ext, Sennheiser IE600

Soundstage: RS6 is much wider and RS2 is more initimate
Vocal: RS2 is closer but it does not sacrifice the transparency for showing the instruments in the background. Good for female vocals
Bass: RS6 is more natural and RS2 is a tad bit more presence
UI: RS2 is more easy to use

RS2 vs R3Pro as a transport for Mojo2 via OTG: no discernible difference.

I mean you need to test it first. It is not for everyone. Not for those who prefer a bigger soundstage….. or men or women having bigger fingers.

One small note about the small screen. I have a 256GB micro-SD full of music (6,000-ish) but since I use the album view to scroll through my music (from 8-20 songs per album only) and so I think the small screen is not so much a torture.
