HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread

Been listening to the hiby rs2 for awhile now. Liked it but with my warmer gear somehow it didnt match and regretted it a little.
Today I got the topping nx7, and together (lineout) wow just wow... Now the sound is 100% how I want it, lush fatique free but still spacious, detailed. This has to be my end goal because everything sounds sooooooooo good.

A newbie question on NOS mode. Under the Darwin option the NOS switch is by default on left side.
Does it mean the device is playing in default NOS mode or OS mode.
Sliding it to right as in screenshot means NOS mode is on, right?

And another observation on volume, I find the output very low in my regular iem when the sound volume level is 50. I have to increase the sound level to 65 to get the normal output in 3.5 mm non-balanced. Is it normal or I have to do some settings in volume somewhere

Sorry for asking so many questions.

What does "gain" means inside Play menu. How does it work? will sliding it to high impact the current and voltage output in case of 3.5mm connection or it is for 4.4mm balance ouput only. I don't have 4.4mm ended cable with me now so can't check its impact.

Thanks everyone for your help.

- 3.5mm output is 125mW, 4.4mm output is 320mW, so you will get more power out of the 4.4mm
Check Play/Max Volume setting. This can be set to restrict the maximum volume, in case you accidentally turn the volume knob to maximum. Set this to 100 to remove any volume restriction.
- NOS switch to the right means that NOS is enabled.
- GAIN - stroke down on the playing screen is an alternate, and quicker way to get a display with the Gain setting, and a screen off setting. And back/play-pause/forward controls. EDIT: stroke down from the top edge of the screen
Setting Hi Gain on will get you the maximum power output, for both the 3.5mm and 4.4mm Output. (I had to test it to verify, as I found no information online)
The Hi Gain setting just provides a moderate gain.
I guess this is just to provide an option to provide a higher, or lower power setting to help when using very high sensitivity IEMs, which can hiss with too much power.

Turning on Hi Gain on the RS2 is not as obvious as on a Sony DAP, where the high gain doubles the output power, and you are warned to turn down the volume first, before engaging high gain.

RS2, on Hi Gain, the 4.4mm output is 320mW, which may be too much for a high sensitivity IEM. So the option is provided to back off the power a bit.

There is not much overall information in the official Hiby User manual. Take a look at the reviews which provide much more information.

Get my Cayin N7 today. Initial comparison with RS2. If you go straight out from RS2, the difference is massive in almost all aspects. However, the difference becomes negligible or less pronounced once paired with a good amp. I compare RS2/N7+ Aroma A100tb. RS2 is warmer, lush, and dark. N7 is quite neutral. Although the soundstage spread wider from N7 and more detailed. It's not that much a big difference. Good job, RS2, the DAC section is really good IMHO.

I sold my RS2 right away after N7 arrived mainly because of financing. Otherwise, RS2 is a keeper. No doubt.

Hey guys, just wondering if RS2 requires burn-in. if yes, then how many hours should be enough to get the full potential of this little device.

Thanks.
Long term Burn in not really, but resistor ladders are designed to work optimally at a certain temperature range, so you may find that the sound "burns in" each session over the first 5-10 min or so as the device warms up.

Can you guys share tracks that shine on the RS2? Anyone curate a playlist on Spotify/Tidal?

using it with A&K PA10
hello @HiByMusic please provide Line Out function in 4.4 Bal, software Line Out is okay 👍
well, wish is granted, just need to wait patiently.

Softaware LO is good for me, thanks Hiby!
