It looks amazing and probably it sounds as good. 1650$ for the aluminum alloy version (4GB + 64GB) and 2000$ for the stainless steel version (6GB + 128GB + LTE).

I guess you are right, they put crazy high prices because demand for such a devices is low so they want to make as much on a single unit as possible, that's why it's the most expensive hobby lol.
I would say the issue with economy of scale is the order size of these SoC and related components. Smartphone and other related manufacturers tend to put in large orders, and the same chip can be used for many products. I am not sure how high of a margin there is on these sort of products at this scale.

It looks like the processor is now a snapdragon 660 instead of the 625? And has 2 AKM4497 dac chips.

$1,700/$2,000 for that? Yeah they are tripping. These companies are trying to make up Covid losses and tariffs, in one model run. I wanted one of these, due to the sim slot, but no way at this price.

I would have preferred a single ak4499, in 2020.

the price is ridiculously high. I don't know how they position , it's really out of their range.
Seam like they want to increase their brand image. So this new device is just a tool for them.
I would go with cayin n6ii or fiio M15.
if I pay this price, I will take AK.

Cayin N8 has a single core MIPS processor with dual AK4497EQ DACs, and the worst screen ever and it is maybe the best sounding and one of most expensive DAP out there.

The 660 SoC is pretty decent for a DAP, with 4xA53 and 4xA73 based cores, that can run @ 2.2 GHz max. I am even surprised that they were able to lay their hands on such a controller. For those that do not understand why I say that, I would recommend to read the posts from FiiO / James, for example about the screen and SoC of M15:

The battery is maaaassive. Outputs are powerful, both less than 1 ohm. Has a balanced line out in addition to unbalanced. Design looks pretty decent, but I don't like that the outputs are at the bottom. Comes with a case...good...but what is that massive useless box?

LTE for me is not needed, as I do offline listening or use my mobile phone as a WIFI hub, and I don't see myself getting an extra SIM card for a music player. Supports 768/32 bit PCM and DSD512. Has full MQA support from the start. Has Hiby Link for remote control. For those who care, also certified Android 9.0 from the start. High quality passive components.

So far, looks like Hiby did their homework with the most feature complete DAP ever, with most powerful SoC and recent OS. Now, let's wait for the sound.
