Not to make light of mental illness, but now that I think of it, the two periods of my life that I've been the most audio obsessed were when I was the most medicated.:gs1000smile:.

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, I'm impatiently waiting for that iEMatch 2.5...
How was that for a "back on topic" recovery?

Good enough for me. I really wish that it wasn't a necessary accessory but it appears to be needed for the it04 I want to get.

No problem, will do! With Twister6's (and other`s) recommendations, I'm looking forward to trying some hybrid and multi-BA items with it and the R6!

While R3 charges...R6 comes out to play

Hello Hawaiibadboy, I'm really curious about this player. How is R6 sound quality vs ZX300 and vs Fiio X7ii in terms of clarity, detail and transparency? I really appreciate your help!
@Hawaiibadboy was on the record in this video saying that the R6 beat all comers basically...
While that makes him sound like a bit of a HiBy nut and other reviewers have explained it in terms of HBB really liking bass and using lots of EQ and the MSEB in particular, I had talked to HBB in private and noted something you guys don't know about: tucked away in his (and other reviewers') plugin section was a little pre-beta status plugin called Sound Field Enhancement (Joe). It contains the experimental work I had done in expanding headphone soundstage to challenge that of speakers. After talking about it we surmised that while HBB had intended to turn off all sound enhancements in most sound quality comparisons, this little plugin was probably activated much of the time. Its effect is subtle (obviously, if one could not know it is turned on...)

Which brings me to this earlier question:
@Joe Bloggs could you please clarify which plugins are currently available and what they do? Thanks.

Currently available plugins--in main interface:
1. Equalizer
2. MSEB
I think everyone knows what these do already...

Currently availalbe plugins--in Plugins menu, available for download over WiFi:
1. YueyueMusic--a car audio DSP plugin, I haven't played much with this yet...
2. Sound Field--widens or narrows the soundstage, using some, er, "simpler" audio math. Pull right over 1.0 to widen, left under 1.0 to narrow.
3. Balance--this replicates the channel balance function in the Audio Settings page. Sometimes prone to bug out and spontaneously peg itself to -23678584231637dB (or something) and effectively mute the right channel. I don't recommend adding this to the list of applied plugins. (you can uncheck an added plugin or swipe left on a plugin to remove it from the list altogether)

Pre-beta plugins--in Plugins menu, was given to reviewers for preview only:
1. PEQ combined--applies up to 32 bands of parametric equalization (each filter having freely adjustable center frequency, gain and "range of application" aka "Q")
2. Sound field enhancement (Joe)--the aforementioned headphone soundstage expansion plugin with subtle effect that probably affected HBB's review comparison impressions.

Well, I've probably just opened a can of worms for our devs adding yet more features into the "scheduled for release yesterday" box...:sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

@Joe Bloggs i am having trouble getting HibyLink to work between my iPhone and the R6. I previously had it working fine with an M2s - is there anything different about the R6 pairup??
To clarify, the iphone and R6 see each other as Bluetooth devices. But in Hiby link, the iPhone does not see the R6. The SS R6 being quite heavy obviously, I would like to keep it in a backpack rather than a pocket while on the go and just control from the phone. A while ago you mentioned another app that would achieve the same result?? Many thanks.

The HiByLink function for the R6 is in internal beta. It's different because the R6 is itself an Android device and HiByLink on Android has thus far been coded as the controller rather than the controlled. TeamViewer is the other app I mentioned--it fully duplicates the R6's touchscreen on another smartphone, not just HiByMusic. You would need to install "TeamViewer Host" on the R6 and "TeamViewer for remote control" on your phone. Both devices need to be connected to the internet--this can be achieved on the go by having your phone broadcast a hotspot to the R6. HiByLink would just require a bluetooth connection, although on iOS devices its functions are more limited because iOS only opens the low-bandwidth BLE Bluetooth protocol to third-party use.

I can confirm that TeamViewer works just fine between an iPhone and the R6. But omg it is a clunky process compared to the elegance of HibyLink. So I will uninstall and now patiently wait for the beta testers to do their thing!
