HiBy Digital M300 Android Digital Audio Player,"The Gen-Z Music Player" - Discussion thread

32 Ohm version.
I am also giving the R3 II some thought, as that is even smaller, and as I am just looking for the best sound quality in a small body, some of the features of the M300 are not necessary for me (although they are welcome.)
The M300 should be able to drive these earphones fine.

As for quality, depends who you talk to, I am not in a position to prescribe where that stands, however, I would personally choose an Android device, if only because of the more sophisticated audio file browsing available (even for files stored locally), and the extra sound shaping options available even via apps on the Play Store. (On our R Android series there are also systemwide audio plugins, but even for the M300 there are plenty of options, such as Wavelet, Poweramp, JamesDSP...)

Thanks, I play around with EQ settings on Poweramp quite a bit.
So you would suggest the M300 instead of the R3 II, for the added convenience, and the because I don't need the balanced out?

@Joe Bloggs Looks like the new FW fixed the volume issue I was having with UAPP, good job @HiByMusic.
Yes, it does appear to have fixed the/my (hardly minor) volume issue of changing/raising volume when moving from Bluetooth to wired connections (independent of app used in my experience). This is major to me, removing a huge risk to my hearing. I can recommend the M300 now. It was annoying having to remember to lower the volume ahead of hitting play, and beyond annoying when I would not remember! Gracias, HiBy!

Still lacks volume features of my 2-year-old R3 Pro, but I guess they don't want HiByDigital having everything HiBy... :smirk::relaxed:

Hi all 🍷

I am pretty sure this has been already answered, but I could not find it going quickly trough the thread, so my apologies, I just need to make a quick decision

I will need m300 only for one scenario,I will install UAPP on it and attach it via usb cable to xduoo xd05 pro

Now, main question / issue for me is if in this case android limitation will be avoided and xduoo is able to receive from m300 "pure" signal, not altered , if not can you please advise an alternative? It should be as slim and small as possible, but at the same time also have android as an os, m300 is a perfect fit for me

Thanks a lot in advance

It will work bitperfect through UAPP. It doesn't, through USB, without UAPP, but that doesn't affect the functionality of UAPP itself.

Hi guys , I havent had a dedicated DAP for about 6 or 7 years now as the IPhone did the job.
Now thinking about a DAP again.
It will be used solely for Tidal and maybe some radio. Does the M300 allow me to download albums from Tidal so I can play them when I am offline?

The M300 can be seen as an Android phone without phone modem or camera. Everything you can do on Android, using the native Tidal app for example ‘should’ work the same way on M300 (can be tethered to a phone WiFi hotspot).

If you read this thread in details, Tidal may not be that simple: still looking for a network connection despite the offline mode (to check if you’re allowed to play these tracks, or to check if there is an updated version of the track?). The SD card format, internal/external storage seems to matter as well…

I don’t use Tidal…. So, I’ll blame them for all these issues! But in the meantime you could end up with a poor experience—M300 or any other DAP…

Read my posts here about Tidal offline > M300....14 minutes now, @3000 songs, to play the first note of the first song vs iPhone which took 3 seconds the 1st time and now is instantaneous when play is touched.

Looking at other solutions but for my uses'...I might have put up with the 14 minutes for offline Tidal listening.

Hmm OK so definitely no good for what I would use it for .
I would have hoped DAPs had progressed since I had one

I can't speak to other DAPs or phones regarding Tidal/Offline. I have a Sony TOL for wired~balanced listening. I know 1 day I'm going to load it with a memory card and try Tidal offline on it. Now I just live stream. Besides being a card carrying member of the procrastinators club, I'm not sure why I haven't tried with it yet?

Is it unusual, that with all the H.F.ers reading this thread, only 1 other has posted about using Tidal offline on ANY device?
