So, hello! Figured I'd sign up to the community as it seems to specialise in audio, rather than going in blind.
I'm looking for a new pair of phones, that will be an upgrade on what I've used in the past. As I've never really delved into this before, I've used low end in the past.
Monster N-Tune, Polk 4 Shot, not the best in sound quality I've felt.
So I'm looking to step into the dedicated headphone ring, with a budget of £50-80 GBP. I've seen a few suggestions previously elsewhere, like the ATH-M40x or the 668b/681 EVO's.
I source all my music as Vinyl on my turntable, FLAC, 320Kbps MP3's or any other lossless codec. Unfortunately processed through a top end Realtek soundcard built on my Z77x MB.
I've been offered a Behringer Headphone Micro Amp for about a tenner from a friend who I told I was getting into all this as well. I enjoy listening to Metal (A7X, Megadeth, Nu Metal), Indie/Rock, Rap and stuff like Queen, Toto, Mr.Mister, so it'd be nice if any headphones suggested could play them back nicely.
Thanks guys!
