Hi Folks

Would love some advice.

I'm about to move internationally and my hi fi is about to go. I've been an audiophile since my late teens and have spent a long time upgrading my system. Alas, the move and two young kids means the system is barely used so I think now is the time to consolidate down to the best headphone system I can get.

I dont have any other use for the cash so I'm going to blow all I get from the sale.

Selling:

Moon 700i
Moon 780D
MA PL300 II
A bunch of Nordost cabling.

Let's say a conservative £15k

What are my options?

Cheers

DAC
Topping D90

Amp
Geshelli Labs Archel 2.5

Headphones
HE-400i
Aeon Flow Open

Why?
The DAC is the latest from Topping and can run balanced and RCA out to 2 different amps at once. It measures very well. The amp is small, but has superb power and can accept balanced and RCA signals so you have your choice of gain really. The 2 sets of headphones complement each other very well with the HE-400i being richly detailed and airy sounding so you get that clean sense of space. The Aeon Flow Open is more intimate in nature bringing an up-front sound signature with plenty of bass slam and detail. You get 2 sets of tuning filters that help tune the sound just the way you want.

If you can still have a rather small but mostly isolated room, there's the AKG K1000.

It's the closest you can get to speakers, but like speakers, it will have no isolation, and this time it's not just the noise interfering with your music but your music being more easily audible to everybody inside the same domicile.

You'd have to buy it used and have to use speaker amps or very powerful headphon amplifiers, but at that budget, that's not a problem. Personally if you could use it at your home and can afford it, find one, get it, blow some cash on something like a Pass Labs Class A amplifier and a good preamp (passive SS or a clear, only slightly softer at the top end tube preamp, up to you).

It might help if you explained the sound signature you are after.

Im quite happy with my set-up,which is:

ZMF Verite closed- $2499.00
Lampizator Atlantic TRP-$8000.00 give or take depending upon options
Glenn OTL-$1800.00,again depending upon options

Or you can opt for the STAX 009 and a Headamp BHSE ,which are about $3500.00 and $6000.00 respectively, keep the Lampizator DAC.

I prefer my setup as it has better dynamics with more weight to the music. The Stax has a more airy wide open sound.
