Woohoo! First time posting to this forum!
I have been an infrequent lurker, and finally decided to make my first post here. (I hope I'm posting this thread in the right place)

A bit about me:
- I'm an artist who works at home, and needs to listen to music to concentrate.
- I need to wear headphones for up to 5 hour stints.
- I share my computer room with my husband, who watches videos all day. (noise cancelling is a plus!)
- I have a big-ish head with lots of hair, and need something that won't hurt me.
- I have TMJ, and my current pair of headphones put a lot of pressure on my temples/jaw area.
- Sound quality is somewhat important to me.
- One-sided cord is a plus
- My budget was anything under $50, but I realize $50-150 is more reasonable.

My current pair of headphones are these terrible things from Monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10823&cs_id=1082302&p_id=8323&seq=1&format=2
I can't wear them for more than 2 hours at a time. And that's on a good day

I have had some comfortable headphones in the past from Sony, but I haven't been able to test their long-term wear for comfort.
I had these until my cat chewed through the cable: Sony MDRZX300
Only one ear still works. :<

Is their anything that you guys would recommend?
Not sure if it helps, but I like to listen to Classical music, movie soundtracks, instrumentals, some pop songs, musicals.

Not to get too personal and scare you off - but am I understanding correctly that you are female? A girl, here at head-fi? Wha?????? :D

First, the traditional greeting:

Welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet...

Now for some help - you have some competing requirements that make this a bit trickier than it appears at first blush. You want isolation, but you want low clamping pressure and long-term comfort. Those three things normally don't go together. And you want them cheap - never an easy thing at head-fi!

I would look at the Creative Aurvana Live!

Other options might be:
Sony MDR-7506 or V6 (same headphone, different accessories)
Sennheiser HD280, HD203 or HD201
Shure SRH-440

Good luck!

The sennheiser pxc 450s sound like a good fit for you. Great noise cancellation and good crisp sound. They are also very, very comfortable. I would also recommend keeping your cat away from these as they do come in at about $300 at some places. But these are worth the money if you want comfort, noise cancellation, and crisp clean sound for the kinds of music you said you listen to. They also do have a one sided cord as well as they fit very nicely and comfortably. I know that price is a big issue but it sounds like you spend a lot of time with your headphones so these are a investment you wont regret. Another quick side note is that I am sure that you have been shopping around I am would be very surprised if you haven't come across the Bose quite comfort. I have never actually owned a pair but I have known several people that did and I spend quite a lot of time listening on them. They are rubbish for the price. Sure they are comfortable and noise cancelling but they are NOT worth the money.
