Lucky you! The 580 or 600? FYI: The price diffirence between those 2 is a lot less over here in Europe then in the USA/Canada; about 40-43 USD or (50 EUR).

Redwood,

Welcome aboard, man! Congratulations in advance on the Sennheisers (one would think you'd be in Germany hand-picking them!). Now the addiction begins...and the endless pursuit of perfection is in play....so I have to ask...

What kind of amp do you suppose you'll be using with those Senns?

don't listen to Jude! leave while it's still early!!

within months you'll be buying dust caps for your RCA jacks and liquids to acoustically treat your cable housing!! You'll be measuring your dog for EMI contamination!!!

run! run! far away!! don't look back!!!

but really, what amp are you going to use.

Merg:
I think it's gonna be the 580's since 50EUR is still
a lot of cash... at least to me.
Additionally, a lot of people here seem to like
the 580s just as much as the 600s
(and the 580s look a lot cooler, too!

)

Anyway, I haven't decided yet since I haven't
found a place where I can audition both of
them - and I really think you should let your
ears decide...

But I'm not in a hurry, so I'll take my time
and 'order' them as soon as I make my decision

Bye

I've never used liquids to acoustically treat my cable housings! But how'd you know about using the AlphaLab Meter on my dogs? They tested clean (now that they both wear braided copper shielding doggy sweaters).

As to the amp:

Since I'm always on the run (don't even know if I'm still
gonna be here in Waterloo a month from now

)
I was thinking about a portable amp.
CMOY wouldn't be bad for starters... (oh man, haven't
soldered in years )

Or maybe Jan hurries with his portable Corda, in which
case my girlfriend could bring me two packages instead
of one

Welcome to your new Home, Redwoood. Joining up here is like standing up at an AA meeting. You have admitted you have an addiction.

Can I call you Wooody?

I've seen this comment here before and I simply must disagree:

I own both the 580s and the 600s, and personally I really like the looks of the 600s way better than the 580s. They look soooo cool sitting on top of my Max all black, dark, and mysterious....

I think the 580s look too 'plastic'.

Just IMHO.

Alan, having owned both, I have to emphatically agree

The metal grills on the 600s look way better than the plastic of the 580s, and the "carbon fiber" headband looks much better in person than it does in pctures. The only drawback is the blue "left" and "right" badges that just look too out of place.
