Hi, guys, I came across some website introducing their silver containing solder which is like triple the price of regular solder. I know silver solder has higher melting temperature and more difficult to handle, but other than that, do you think it's better to use those solder when making ICs or simple PCB jobs? Will those Hi-End solder improve SQ? or just placebo cr*p?

what about lead-free solder? do you use those to prevent lead toxic?

Seriously, I am a big fan of the Cardas solder because it is so much easier to work with.

I use Cardas solder,

because its shinier then normal silver solder and flows evenly.

plus Cardas solder gives a bit of bragging rights. i.e. Cardas name versus rat shack or kester.

is that the organic flux based version or the standard flux version?

anyone buying solder avoid the organic flux solder. Ive read it corrodes metal over time.

i go for Deans..

for those who didn't hear this brand before, it's very well known in the radio controlled cars/planes industry..

i've used it before and it's easy to use, no mess, and less noise
