Hey All - New Guy Here

[The Spectre]

Hey everyone, I'm Kobi, or Spectre, whatever you prefer. I recently just dove into the world of headphones which immersed me into another realm of my main hobby which is collecting.
 
I work at technology company and I have a well rounded knowledge at how electrical and computer related things operate. I also have a very, very high interest in vintage items, so what did I decide to do? Get into vintage headphones and re purposing them for every day use. I must state that I am a sony guy which it comes to electronics so naturally I went Sony with my two pairs of headphones.
 
I was lucky enough to stumble across a mint pair of Sony DR-5A's which I plan to use for my music on my phone for computer (If it sounds alright) as well as a decent looking pair of Sony HS-23A's which is a headset. (I don't know too much a bout these but I do know the 5A's are from 69') I plan on using this headset with my playstation 4 of all things, It looks quick like an old military headset and since I mainly play military games it seemed fitting. I joined the forum in hopes of just talking with people who know more about headphones than I do and sharing my success (or failure) with my two projects. Nice to meet you all!

Thank you for the welcome!! My wallet didn't take too bad of a hit, $60 USD and I have a pair of skull candy Slyr's I need to part with as well. I think I'll be alright. Here's my two sets of hear gear.

I doubt the headset is military as there is a left and right and no need for stereo in the military . They do look cool though. I bet it is like for control room of some sort. Have you heard them yet either pair?

I didn't mean to state they are military issue, I meant they just have that look. I have not heard either pair, they will both be here Saturday. I will clean them up and see if my adapters work properly and see if my playstation will recognize the mic on the HS-23A's and see if the mic still works. As far as the DR-5A's go I'm hoping they function properly with my phone dependent about their 8 ohm impedance.
 
We'll have to wait and see. I and very excited however. I will update you all!
