I was thinking the same thing, actually! Imagine if these were $150 instead of $1500 and they were sold locally and easily found. and they aren't exactly quiet; so if your neighbor has one and likes to 'fly by' over your house a lot, well, that might 'get old', real fast...

here is a overview of copter projects MulricopterTable. the mikrokopter isn't really open source, there are some older parts of source code available online but not under a open source license like gpl. there are other copter projects using gpl as you can see in the link.

This looks seriously cool. Pity I do live quite near an airport, which means owning something like this might get me into serious trouble. Would be hilarious to fly one around with a sign on it saying "I'm a UFO!".
