i like the sparklies when cds are microwaved.

weird. Was the CD warped or cracked?

i dont have any high speed cd-roms, they're old. so i don't run into that prob.

From what I hear it doesn't have to... At the speeds that fast drives hit microscopic flaws in the disc can expand suddenly leading to... well... it going BANG!

Yes, it did have cracks around the center of the CD from a particularly vicious Sony portable I used to own. Still you don't expect them to explode! It was the loudest bang I have ever heard from a computer, I thought it was one the power supply caps bursting and then wondered why nothing had crashed.
