I can't seem to find the right setting for my Ipod classic.

I don't need the best SQ, just something decent for casual listening. I upload music from CDs and it seems that there are way too many errors and lots of the songs I upload have errors in them. I've used the error correction in the Itunes s/w but it doesn't seem to help much.

Is there an optimal setting, type of file, etc. to solve this issue, or is there a third party s/w that works with Ipod/Itunes that I can use to upload entire CDs without all the errors?

you may want to go to the Ilounge forums and ask there. I say that only because that forum is loaded with people working with Apple and can answer technical questions. I have the 5.5g Ipod and have found no problems. I would ssay gointo "preferences" and examine all the "folders" in there to be sure you have everything selected as it should be. But other than that, would suggest that Ilounge forum

EAC Tutorial

yeah but the question was about Itunes. If you want to get into alternate ways of ripping and loading, look at Winamp. It now allows Itunes--which previously it did not--and the freebie version is almost as complete as the "pay-for" version. plus they update on a regular basis.

I suggest you go back and read the original question again.

EAC will solve the problem.

I highly recommend Max!
A open-source and powerful audio CD ripper, which rip and encode to your preferred codec/format (Apple Lossless, AAC, MP3, ...) and even the files to your iTunes Library.

It has a more powerful ripper engine than the iTunes one as well.

Probably a combination of scratched CDs and a optical drive that is poor at DAE.

Even if he was to get/use a different optical drive, using EAC is still the best course of action.
