Help with EAGLE CMoy design, please =)

I might redesign the board for Panasonic ECQ-E2105KB input cap. It's 1.0uF 250vdc with only 12.5mm lead spacing.

Design #3 - Improved Design! Thicker Traces!

Traces are 32mill thick now, and board is 2" x 1.75". I don't think this design will fit in a Altoids Tin & dual 9v batts.

Can PCB manufactures make the board with 45 degree angled corners?

Cause I designed the board to fit in Altoids Tin

Some can. Some charge extra if the board is not rectangular. Others don't charge extra for the cuts. You may still have to pay for the total sq. in. as if the board was rectangular.

All sorts of shapes are possible.

Joshatdot, any plans to make a number of boards for sale?

This what I am planning to do. I just need to finalize a design & layout.

I want one design made just for Mint Tins using dual 9v batts. And one design for a bigger Hammond type case for rechargeable desktop/portable use. I am focusing on the Mint board for now.

I am going to design the Desktop one with variable Lead Width input caps, so you can buy whatever you want and they'll fit.

If you use a single power supply cap you'd have more room. You don't need two in series. I think it would simplify the layout too. Try and think about routing when you place the parts. Eagle's autorouter isn't very good. There is room for improvement.

I'll try a single 470uF for now on. If I layout the components so there is less crossing and closest to each other I end up with a much bigger board then will fit in a Altoids tin & dual 9v batts. My issue with routing traces, is that placing stuff where I want them & routing them is difficult cause its 2D traces. If I could sometimes make a jumper wire to go over other traces would help at times.

I've been using the same schmatic for all these board layouts so far. I am going to redesign it from scratch.

I have a few questions about power caps. I am thinking I can get by with a single 470uF 16vDC caps w/3.5mm Radial lead spacing, for dual 9v batts. There are 19 listed at Digi-Key. Brands are: Nichicon, United Chemi-Con & Panasonic - ECG.

Will it matter what one to use?

Also...there are dozens (if not hundreds) of different input caps I could use. I am thinking about this one 495-1087-ND. It's 1.0uF 50vDC, 5.0mm lead spacing 4.5mm W x 9.5mmx H x 7.3mm L (Damn that's teeny-tiny for a 1.0uF!!)

Any chance you could sell some pre-routed mint tins, too? Those things are a PITA.

build the basic one that Tangent designed? or once I design & buy my custom PCB CMoy boards, build the whole thing and sell it?

Two quick "questions"....

Where are the R5s?
(I can assure you that nobody that owns IEMs will be happy with the results if you leave those resistors out)

Why are you limiting your design to just use "stable" Jfet type op-amps?
(2 small ceramic 1206 SMD bypass caps is all it will take to make high current bipolar op-amps play nice and they are dirt cheap)

I would suggest the you keep the inputs caps small.
(9mm X 5mm is fine) Remember those caps are optional parts afterall.

What brand and models of bipolar op-amps do you recommend?

9+9 = 18v. 16V cap is not a good idea.

A little. It also depends on which line you use. My recommendations are Nichicon UPW, Panasonic FM, or Elna RFS. RFS is the best sounding but they are less likely to fit in your Altoids tin.

If you can't get a 470µF in one of these to fit, try 220µF. When you had the caps in series you only had 470/2.
In any case with electrolytics quality matters at least as much as quantity.
