Ok. So I downloaded EAC which I've never used before. It looks pretty straightforward. But, when I try to get the album information from freedb.org it keeps saying server error.

Is freedb.org just not working now or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for your help.

PS: Is there perhaps another (simple) cd ripping program that can encode mp3s that is just as good? I need this for a friend who is not extremely computer savvy.

Are you connected to the Internet while attempting this?

Have you set up the "Freedb" options in EAC?

To set up the "Freedb" options in EAC, open the program and press F12. A dialog box should open asking you for an e-mail address and to choose a freedb server.

Simply enter an e-mail address and choose a server in the same country as you.

Then click OK, and try again.

Check post #2 in this thread. It contains links to guides on how to set up EAC.

Thanks. That's probably it. I just have to wait a few weeks before I get to my friend's computer again.
