I recently decided it's time to improve the sound quality in my life and purchased the ATH-E70s along with a DragonFly Red and a Tidal Hi-Fi subscription.

Now, after some testing, it seems the IEMs sound fantastic for most songs, but horrible for certain songs with a distinct type of high pitched sounds: it just sounds way too harsh and depending on the volume can even hurt a bit.

How is this possible? These plugs have received great reviews and, to my knowledge, are considered to be of great value. Yet after listening to them I can't imagine anyone really liking them at all. Some reviews mention the highs can be a bit harsh, but that's to put it mildly.

The actual question is that is there something wrong with my ears or are the plugs faulty, or what is going on? Is there a fix for this? It's really a tragedy since I paid around €300 for these, albeit I believe I am still able to return these if necessary.

A quick addition, an example of a song that sounds harsh to me:

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

This song, especially with the "essing" on some parts (and the cymbals, too) is basically the worst with these and is actually a physical pain to listen to at the regular volume I use for other songs. This can't be intentional?
