I recently picked up an old pair of Pioneer Monitor 10s, plugged them into my computer interface (puts out a line level signal) and they sounded beautiful. A few days later, after storing them carefully and barely touching them, I plug them in again, and the right channel no longer works.

I am trying to diagnose what's wrong with the headphones. I tested the jack, and there is continuity between the tip and the sleeve but not the ring. Does that mean the right speaker is blown, or could it mean something else? I'm really hoping it's the jack or the cable between the left and right speakers, but I don't know how to tell without completely taking the whole thing apart...

Sorry if this is a pointless/redundant thread, I am just really desperate to fix these cans...

Try removing or inserting the plug slowly to see if at some point both earpieces make sound. If they do, then it might be that the jack on the headphone or the plug on the source may be slightly out of spec and are not connecting correctly. As for continuity, there should be some continuity between the tip and the sleeve and the ring and the sleeve (left to ground and right to ground, respectively), but none between the tip and the ring.
Finally, take a AA battery and attach some leads to the top and bottom. Put the headphones on and touch the negative lead to the sleeve and the positve lead to the tip and then to the sleeve to see if you hear a pop out of both speakers. If not, then the driver is fried.
Hope that helps.
