I'm working on a project and I need a wav or mp3 file of the sound the GIANT ANTS made in the movie "Them!" (I guess it was also used in "The Ant Bully" though I don't know that film. I've looked everywhere on the web and I can't find it. I need it right away and I can't wait three days for a copy of the film to arrive from Netflix. If anyone has the film, please post me a clip. Thanks!

you can try searching on NPR (national public radio) website for sound bytes. I hear they have interesting recordings submitted by the public. Sorry I dont know the specific address.

Should be easy enough to find - I think it was a pretty standard effect used in many Sci-Fi flicks at the time. If I'm not mistaken, the noises the aliens made in the original film version of War of the Worlds was much the same...

That said, maybe peruse some online sample banks? Many have "FX" folders dedicated to classic sounds like that.

I wasted two hours today looking, like everyone else, I thought for sure it would be on the web. Nada. Oh, man, now I've got to pospone my project for three or four days!

YouTube! (slaps forehead!) Glendale, you genius. I completely didn't consider looking for the Them Trailer. Thank you so much! You saved my butt! That clip at the end will just be enough, I can copy and edit it to extend it over my video bit. Thanks again! Cheers!

Glad to help - A looping program like ReCycle should help you extend the clip seamlessly. Not free though. Fruityloops, perhaps? I'm sure you can find a free program with a waveform viewer to help you do that (if you don't already have one).

You know, I was just looking at the thread title and realizing how many "____-fi" threads we've been having and the first thing I thought was "Help science-fidelity buffs!"

Those may work, but there's also Audacity.
