Hi all. I am looking to buy my first set of relatively high-end headphones in the near future as I find I am not satisfied with my current Sony headphones.

I am looking specifically at the Shure SE310 or the Klipsch Custom 3s as there is a local store clearing these out for a fairly good price.

They are currently asking $120 CDN for the Shure set and $150 CDN for the Klipsch headphones. Which ones would you recommend?

I would primarily be using them to listen to music on my PC and MP3 player, either as 320KBPS MP3s or encoded as FLAC on a Sandisk Sansa Fuze.

I listen to everything from indie piano ballads from singer/songwriters to heavy metal and classical- everything but country really.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Fenian

I haven't heard the Klipsch IEMs but I can tell you that I own a pair of SE310 and I feel that it really lacks bass and sounds very boring. It definitely doesn't do well with heavier music that I listen to.

Hi , if i was you i would grab those klipsch custom 3's while you have a chance, they are fantastic iems, you will not be disapointed with there sound quality ,i have never heard the se310 but i do own the se420 and the se 530 and i can tell you the klipsch leave the se420 standing still and they are equal to or slighty better sounding than the se530.
I have had my custom 3 for nearly 6 months now and have not found a genure of music that does not sound fantastic ,they are very musical and piano sounds just great with them.

I would say in the shures favor that shure phones have forward mids which do make piano sound very nice and lush sounding on there top 2 iem's but i cant really say about the se310 as i dont own them.

C3 is better since it's dual driver IEMs and there details in highs, mids and bass is far better than SE310.

Shure SE310 does lack bass a lot. I would suggest the Custom 3's. If you spend $20-$30 more you can get the Sennheiser IE7, which I recommend over both of them.

Sennheiser ie7 is a great iem ,its huge soundstage is its strongest point and it beats the klipsch custom 3 in this erea, however in every other way custom 3 out classes ie7, the c3 has a far more detailed and articulate treble ,mids are more natural sounding and much more refined then on the ie7 and bass is stronger with more weight and punch to it then the ie7 although they are both fairly detailed in the bass.in my opinion
