I am using a Campfire Polaris V2 (2019 version) and looking for a suitable DAP to use with is.
I am evaluating Sony NW ZX300 as a source and need to check if someone is using (or has tried) that combination. Great help if someone can share some feedback on this.
Also, if you have any other DAP to recommend basis your experience with Polaris, please do let me know.
Thanks a lot

Hi @aakashk,

While I don't own the Polaris, either version but have demo both extensively, I would suggest the following DAPs in no particular order which pair well with most IEMs :

Cowon Plenue D
Cowon Plenue D2
Cowon Plenue R
iBasso DX 150
iBasso DX 120

I would suggest demo, if possible, to make the best decsion for you.

Subjectively & personally, ZX300 is decent but a bit drier & more neutral leaning compared to the DAPs I recommended.
It all depends on what sound signature you're looking for?
What genres you listen to most often will also help & factor in what will work for you.

Feel free to ask more if you need.

Hope you haver a great day !

Thank you very much for the recommendations. I will try to audition all these options as well as ZX300 before making a purchase decision :) It's just that I read too many good things about ZX300 and Sony being Sony I was curious to know in case someone has any first hand experience of this combination. Thanks again

No problem, @aakashk,

Happy to help, the problem with reading too many good things is unless you can hear said DAP yourself with a well recorded, quality source, especially ones you know well, then it is hard to make your own judgement &/or form your own opinion.
As said, depends on what sound signature you are after.
Also, prior to other DAPs implementing Sony's 4.4 mm Pentaconn connection, Sony DAPs were the only way most could use said balanced connection.
This was Sony's main draw in their DAPs.
Subjectively & personally, in general terms, balanced audio signals are stronger though this doesn't mean better, it all depends on taste.

Feel free to ask more when you need.

Hope you have a great day !
