Hey guys,
Well i really hope you guys can give me a hand. I just hooked up my AKG 701's to my corda aria that i got today and sometimes the music will cut out and i will here nothing but a buh bop over and over again. I disabled the onboard audio card and have only the usb DAC enabled. One of the times that it came i switched it from USB to RCA and the popping went away, but when i switched it back to USB from RCA it started back up again. I thought that it might be the powerbar that i have my desktop hooked up to, but when i plugged it into the wall it did the same thing again. I do not have the amp up very loud at all. Im using widows media player 10 and been listening to jack johnson and other light music. The sound is driving me crazy!!

Yes, please help this man. I sold him the amp and while I am more than OK with refunding his money I'd prefer a solution and a happy transaction.

Note: I did not experience the same problem, although when playing through the DAC and having the clothes iron on (as in ironing clothes while listening to music) the music would shut off - no popping or sounds or anything like that - and I knew it was iron as the lights dim in my house when I turn the iron on.

Please help!! Thanks!

EDIT: I am also going to send this to Dr. Meier.

Here is something I found - may not be the culprit - may not be the exact issue but perhaps trying to run via kernel or ASIO (vs kmixer may help)

An example would be to have the PC audio system stay as default, and play thru the speakers. Then use Foobar to utilize the USB audio codec for its playback thru the headphones.

Problems

1) every time the USB is plugged/unplugged, there is a reshuffling of the "default" designation. Every time you plug the USB back in, it becomes the new "default" If your USB system is screwy, this can happen everytime you turn the computer on and off.

2) Kmixer seems to try really hard to get sound thru the pc audio system. I have had unexpected audio thru the speakers when using foobar with the USB audio codec pointed to my headphones. At that time, I just would turn down the speakers. I was using KS at that point.

If you are considering the Total Bithead, Comfy's suggestion is the best. This is what I use with my laptop. Although I don't bring any speakers with me when I travel, and don't use the laptop at my desk much. Although there are some laptops with Soundblaster named chips in them, most really have bad systems, and the notebooks, with their cramped electronics, have worse internal interference than a big computer box.
