Hey all;

I'm an utter neophyte with audio stuff; I work for a radio station as an on-air presenter and have moved to working from home. So, I need an audio set up in my office. I was working with a cheapish USB mic, but I've decided to upgrade.

I purchased a Sennheiser G4ME ZERO Professional Noise Blocking PC Gaming Headset as I've been told that this has the best mic quality for easy audio recording. I also purchased a SuperBZ 2pcs Black 3.5mm Stereo TRRS 4Pole Plug to 3.5mm Mic & Headset Jack iPhone Audio Adapter to convert the two Mic/Headphones jack into a single jack.

I am working with an Asus X202E / Satellite and Windows 10. I want to use the headset with Audacity and Skype. I don't know what soundcard I have.

My problem is this:

I can't get Windows 10 to recognize that the headset is BOTH a mic and a headset.

When I plug in the headset, Windows prompts me to tell the system if the device I just plugged in is a mic or speakers. I can choose one or the other, but not both. If I don't use the adapter, then I can plug it in individually as a mic or as headphones/speakers, but there's only one jack on the Asus.

Additionally, the headset doesn't even show up when I check the Windows Sound settings. It's not listed in the options; it's like the headset just doesn't exist.

When I use Skype, they function as headphones, but the mic doesn't work.

When I use Audacity, I can set it as a mic, but the headphones don't work. (And sometimes Audacity doesn't even recognize it).

Suggestions? Is there a driver I'm missing, or software, or something?

Or have I accidentally purchased something that just isn't compatible? Do I just return the headset?

Thanks!
