Hello guys,

I need new over-ear headphones under 100$, they need to have a removable cable with the plug on the headphones being a 3.5 mm jack for compatibility with the v-moda boompro. I would like the headphones to have a closed back and I want them to work on my phone (Oneplus One) so no high impedance. Bad ambient noise reduction isn't an issue for me, I just want them to remain comfortable. A carrying case or foldable design would be nice but not necessary.
Thanks so much

Plenty of 2.5 to 3.5 converters to be found...

Detachable cable headphones that come to mind in this price category aren't that many to be honest. Sennheiser has got some. The HD 215 perhaps? Though the fit of that cable is really narrow so I'm not sure if your boompro will work.

Personally I rather liked the sound of the AKG K451, especially considering their portability. Might not be super comfortable long-term though since they're so small.

Marshall major or Skullcandy aviator maybe too, but you can get a better sound for that price.

Shure used to make a DJ-type headphone detachable cables, but I cannot remember the type nor do I know if they're still on sale. AKG made some portable dj-like headphones too that

Excuse my presumption as a new member, but the Noontec Hammo S has a 3.5mm detachable cable, a case, foldable, and is in my humble estimation a superb sounding pair of cans. Amazon currently show USD109 but I found mine for a mere USD50 equivalent and have tested them against some very good alternatives with their sound quality equalling anything in the price range.
Just my honest 2c worth. (I am a very, very fussy, not easy to please listener ;) )

From Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide:
*prices added by myself

Vmoda BoomPro Headphone Compatibility List:
This list will be updated and may be changed. Currently, this is only a list of headphones I know that are capable of being used with the Vmoda BoomPro, not a list of recommendations.

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro - $142-199
Focal Spirit Pro, Classic (need confirmation) $299.99
M-Audio Q40 - $99.99
Monster DNA On Ear, DNA Pro - $53.05-109.99
MrSpeakers Mad Dog (single ended version) - discontinued
NAD Viso HP50 - $249
Nuforce HP800 - $49
Philips Fidelio X1 - $500??
Skullcandy Aviator - $54.46-199.95 (I own one. Sound quality is good, but a bit bass-light.)
Vmoda LP2, M80, M100, XS - $126.99-249 (M-80, XS and M-100 owner. Love them all.)

I would like to add that most Beats models are BoomPro compatible and it looks like the Brainwavz HM2 might work also. You can find Head-Fi reviews here. A search for "detachable cable headphones" on Amazon yields these results, but I haven't had experience with any of them.

Honestly, I'd forgo the BoomPro and look into the ModMic, especially if you already have a pair of headphones you enjoy.  It's compatible without those that have a detachable cable due to it's design.  I have a pair of V-Modas and am still looking at the ModMic vs the BoomPro as an option, just because I'd like to use the mic on other pairs of headphones that I have as well for gaming setups and Skype and the like.

Anyway.  If you don't already own a pair of V-Modas (worth the investment, IMO) or a compatible BoomPro headphone pair listed above, I think you will be a bit hard pressed as others have mentioned to find a sub $100 dollar pair that is worth the while.  I think the only thing that comes to mind is the Monoprice 108323 which have gotten very consistently positive reviews here on Head-Fi, but I lack personal experience with them and they're not exactly what I would call fashionable if that's an issue. If you can handle open backed designs for your needs, it opens up your options a little bit to include the Superlux HD668B and Philips SHP9500 HiFi.  I don't have experience with any of these, but I am going off of what consistently gets some high reviews here at Head-Fi.

I'd look into the m40x's with the ModMic for the best sound/budget combo if you can swing it.  You may be able to get lucky and swing some Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros used or a refurbished near your price point.  Those I have tried and have found enjoyable.

Edit: I am bad at reading.  I didn't see you needed a specific closed design, so I edited my post to reflect that.
