Ok I have some weird ideas for my computer. I currently I am running windows vista with an X-FI Xtream Music sound card (hot-rodded). I have some weird concepts in my head and I find it hard to write it all down on paper so it may be hard to fallow me at times but I will really appreciate the help. First things first I have 2 amps and I want to try and get 2 outputs leaving my sound card and going to them with out a splitter in the middle. Next I would like to try and sound from some programs outputting to one amp and some to the other amp. I would like to have games, Itunes and all windows sounds to one amp, and Windows media player going out of another amp.

If this is at all possible please let me know

If I need different hardware that is not out of the question.

For any help I will be extremely thankful

EDIT:

DOH!! Didn't see that you were using Vista, so the following may be useless to you........

I think this will work.........based on my PC (EDIT: with XPSP2) and WMP11.

You can add a second sound card to your system, and under the Sounds and Audio Devices applet in Control Panel, make sure that your original card, not the new one, is the default output device (on the Audio tab, from the Sound playback, default device drop down list.)

Next, go into WMP, and click on Tools>Options to bring up a dialog box, then click on the Devices tab. There is a list of various audio devices there, and if you highlight "Speakers", then click the Properties button, you can specify which of the sound cards on your PC will be used by WMP.

This might only work well if you have two internal devices, however. WinXP seems to want to make my 0404 USB the default device whenever it is turned on, regardless of what is set in Sounds and Audio Devices. It seems as because when the 0404 USB is off, WinXP doesn't "see" it, and when it is turned on, it sort of reinstalls it.

I really like my 0404 USB, which I use mainly as a USB DAC with a seperate headphone amplifier. If you are running Vista, I would strongly recommend not buying one until there are drivers available - using the XP drivers under Vista would regularly produce clicks & pops that I did not get under XP.

While Vista does not easily let one assign different applications to different playback devices, specific programs can be set to use alternate playback devices. On both my home and work rigs, I set the main playback device to be integrated audio, while using Foobar2000 to output to a different audio device for music.
