Probably not the best forum to ask this question but I guess it is probably close enough...

My old HPG71-340US keeps on crashing. I tried doing the ESC --> F11 to get it into recovery mode but got a blue screen saying "bad image". Tried to order recovery discs from HP but looks like they no longer support it. I know, should have made a set of discs early on, but it too late now.

Does anybody have a set of HP recovery disc for this model for sale?

What OS you running?

If you are running Windows you can restart and press F8 as it boots up.  I keep pressing it until you see the boot mode options.  Run Safe Mode and then if you get into the OS do a system restore.

If that does not work restart and try to access the BIOS and make sure you did not accidentally change the boot drive.

Make sure the Hard Drive is plugged in correctly and powered if needed.

Also, in this link there is a section talking about putting the recovery CD onto a bootable USB drive. That's a good option if you don't want to use discs.

Or if those don't work out, you could possibly just install a regular copy of Windows, and then download the HP drivers afterwards (assuming they have them available somewhere).

Thanks for the replies. It is windows 7 home premium.

The recovery partition apparently is damaged, could not do restore (this one is F11; F8 has no founction.), shows "bad_system_config_info

technical information: *** stop: 0x00000074 (0x0000000000000002, 0xFFFFF88003F1BB20, 0x0000000000000002, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000022)

This is my web surfing computer so I am ok with wiping everything and reload to factory default. The problem is..... need the factory discs to reload.

Might have to do it the hard way, clean install windows 7 and load the drivers by hand
