Good morning,
Next month I will be traveling to the U.S. and I plan to buy my first hi-fi headphone. So far, all I had to experience with headphones was my Steelseries Siberia and my Sennheiser HD 202.

The use will be for gaming and music. The style of music I listen the most is rock and electronics and i play mostly FPS and MMO.

I like some bass in music, but its not something I would trade for loosing sound accurancy.

For now I'm looking to buy one of the following:

Beyerdynamic DT-990-Pro-250

hiya, what is your budget? are you looking for open or close design? what source(s) will you plug the headphone (computer or ipod)? do you already have dac/amp?

Ow i forgot to mention, with the headphone I'm getting a FiiO E09K or E12 to use on my PC / Macbook.

I don't  wanna spend more than $300. I know the HD 600 is $350 on amazon but I can get it for $299.

Since you are gonna connect to laptop, I suggest you to go for dac/amp instead of an amp. If you are on a tight budget, get Fiio E10 or E17 or else go for modi/magni stack or audio gd 15.32. By using a DAC, on board soundcard can be disabled and sound quality can be improved.

Regarding the headphones, with a budget of 300 $, I would also consider mad dogs.

Is the Mad dog better than the other options?
Because I didnt find it on Amazon or the store I would buy the HD 600. And since I'm not from US i would have to check if MrSpeakers send to hotels :/

they are planar phones of closed design. Mad dogs have a good reputation in head fi. Further reading, http://www.head-fi.org/t/613576/mad-dog-by-mrspeakers-modified-fostex-t50rp-review and http://www.head-fi.org/t/666284/mrspeakers-mad-dog-impressions-and-discussion-thread

are you looking for closed design or open design?

Tbh i dont need the closed design for the noise canceling, so i think either one is ok. So the best that would fit my needs.

ps.: i really would love to live in US so i could buy different ones to test but since I dont I rely on the ones who had the pleasure to test =)
