As I long time IPOD owner, I want to move into another portable unit with would yield better Sound Quality (SQ). Due to frequent traveling, I want a unit which yields a minumum of 20 hours of playback per charge. My narrowed choices have come down to two players...Samsung YP-T9 and iAudio 7.

My only use is going to be importing music my my CD Collection. My IEM are the Etymotic ER-4P

With this notion, any information you can share pertaining to these two units would be appreciated:

1. How user friendly is the importing software / interface: just to simply import music from CD's. I want to chose a player in which I can "easily" import my music from the CD's (with just a few clicks)

2. Best Sound Quality vs. Ease of Use: What format / bit rate do most owners of either of these products use (ex. WAV, MP3, OGG, FLAC). How easy is the conversion?

**Vibes Trekstor - I have also looked at this unit, but most reviewers indicate battery life is typically less than 20 hours per charge

Importing music from CD is actually called "Ripping".
I am afraid that there are no software that can do decent ripping by a few clicks.

Since you will be using your mp3 player, I think MP3 should be good enough.
The best way to convert CD to MP3 is EAC (CD to WAV) and LAME (WAV to MP3, using VBR).

If I have a decent CD collection, I will definitely get myself a CD walkman with abundant battery. :p

What, exactly, do you mean by decent ripping? I use iTunes for just that purpose, ripping to Apple Lossless, and it will rip with a single mouse click.

I am leaning toward purchasing the iAudio 7...based on the support of this unit's Sound Quality. My only concern was some reviews which stated that the iAudio 7's firmware was difficult?

For a Lossless Format, a would assume that FLAC is the way to go...unless anybody can suggest other better formats.

Being new to this (again coming from an IPOD / ITUNES)...

Q - As a first step, I would have to convert my CD's via a program such as EAC???
